How many owners running HiLines with broken rings?

The stock cable is exactly that. Some rave about it, but i’ve found it can be improved for modest money. The WH Morganna was my £ limit and i wish id bought a couple more when i could.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the lavender grey cable. It’s an excellent cable by any standards. It’s great to have it as a back up for sure.

Absolutely brilliant cable. Different class. I can hear why Naim have persevered with it. There’s been more done than a broken ring changed here. Unbelievable.:eyes::flushed_face::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::heart:

Did you get charged for this repair?

No. The cable plugs do feel better assembled though. Before there was a slight twist at both ends. This is no longer the case and the cable hangs diffidently too.

Got mine back after repair at the factory. Sounding great. I’ve really missed it

They just replaced the broken ring and with one not having the same texture? Or is it the picture only? The second ring from the cable side looks different.

Not sure exactly. The repair sheet says:

‘Broken cable clamping assembly rebuilt and lead re-tested ok’

An £840 cable that breaks? How Naim have fallen, good god

You should have seen the prototype! You almost didn’t dare look at it, it was so fragile. The production unit was tank-like in build by comparison. However, it did sound amazingly good compared to the same cable with a conventional DIN plug, and that was what really mattered…

I’m sure later iterations use a different compound to the originals. They feel more robust.

The latest version would be the Super Lumina DIN interconnect. For a mere £2k you can get a cable which apparently doesn’t fall apart.

The rings on Super Lumina are made of metal and on the Hiline in plastics.

Hi Graeme,
i see you are now using a Chord Sarum Super Array din-din. Before you were using a HiLine. Did your one break or have you changed because the Chord gives a performance upgrade over the HiLine?

Big performance uplift, Stephen. I’ve not used a HiLine longterm for a number of years, both with 555/552 and now 333/332 since we ‘inherited’ two cats who love to play behind the hifi!

SL too risky for the same reason.

I also thought Chord Super Sarum performed better than Hiline.

Tested the Superlumina vs Chord Music in my 500 system. SL had much more PRaT and synergy. I do have Chord cables in my setup but the Music interconnect and streaming cables just did not work for me.

That’s interesting Graeme. I can’t say I’ve noticed this, but I do have a new HiLine in its way so maybe I can compare. My original HiLine is from 2015.
