How should I choose between two options now Supernait2 and 250dr

  1. Supernait2 490000 number Approximately produced after 2020 Price 2180 euros
  2. Number 250dr 440000 Approximately produced in 2018 Price 2185 euros
    Almost the same price

My Lavry da11 decoding front-end is now a Naim Nait5si Proac t10 signature version speaker
I chose option 1 to upgrade my 5si amplifier Supernait2 will no longer fuss and listen to music with peace of mind.
Still 2 Buy this 250dr in two steps now, directly connect it to the da11 front-end output, and then purchase the 272 front-end for the second part.
I have decided to choose one of these two options, and now I have exactly 2500 euros of spare money in my hand Take action immediately.
I feel a bit dizzy with the final choice.

I have already chosen obstacles. The more information I read, the more forums I search, and the more information I collect, the more I hesitate, the more confused and doubtful I become
Each approach seems to be both correct and flawed
Oh God

Your loudspeakers don’t really need the Nap power unless very large room. of course they would perform better via a 250DR rather than via a Nait 5Si.

The 250DR need a 282/Hicap, which is another €3k budget s/h.

No experience with Naim poweramps into Lavry, but don’t expect miracles. I’ve tried a few Naim poweramps with other front-ends, no success at all.

I don’t see the point in getting a 272 if streaming is main source, hence the SN2 would be my bet based on your post.

Let me explain that I am in the Far East Hong Kong region, where the second-hand Naim equipment market is more expensive than in the UK and Europe
But this does not affect my obsession and pursuit of naim’s tone and tuning

I would keep things simple and get the Supernait 2. Maybe later sell the Lavry and get a used NDX2. That will give you the full Naim sound.

Now I see another very cheap set
Nac112x 230000
Nap155xs 285000
A set costs only 900 euros
My t10 signature is definitely more strongly simulated with naim flavor than 5si
How about this set? I’m worried that the serial number is too old. It’s been 20 and 17 years since 2006 and 2009, and it’s still in its original factory condition without maintenance. That’s already in an aging state. Going to a factory in the UK for maintenance in the Far East is far less convenient and cost-effective than you are in the UK

I had a similar Bel Canto DAC 3.7VB as a digital front end running into some mono power amps but I considered getting a Naim power amp. The problem was I would need a special cable as the Naim has only a single Naim style XLR. The Supernait will take a pair of phono leads IIRC but you only have XLR outputs.

The Bel Canto had a volume control like the Lavy but it sounded better into a passive preamp.

If you want to go Naim, I would get the 272 and a 250DR as I think a hybrid system might not be all that you were hoping for.

In the end I bought a non-Naim pair of power amps and have recently got a Chord Hugo TT2 which has a better volume control so I could dispense with my passive pre.

Hope that helps a bit.

thank u a lot

John, being a fellow Naimee from HK I could see why you stress on the financial factor, and regard the da11 preamp+Naim power amp as your smart move.

With all due respect, many had answered your questions, along with better options for your bedroom and you obviously knew it. But it looks to me you keep dodging the better paths, for either snapping a Naim bargain from S/H market or your smart trick, not to mention your options escalated randomly from bedroom system to main pre-power.

So why not just go with your heart – go 250DR with da11 if that’s the supportive comment you’ve been looking for.

A good introduction to Naim of those choices would be the Supernait 2. You can then connect your source to that.

A 250DR really needs a 282 with HiCap. You can use it with 272 but the streaming board is old and doesn’t work well with latest streaming companies such as Qobuz, Tidal and Spotify lossless.

As @HungryHalibut says you can get an NDX2 later, or the cheaper ND5XS2 as an alternative.

Thank you, you said it so well that it touched my heart
I am indeed the one who originally intended to save money and do more things by directly connecting the 250dr to the front-end output of DA11. But when I saw the players here, they immediately pointed out the flaws in my idea. I am now inclined to use supernait2 instead of 5si in a down-to-earth manner
The da11 supernait2 t10 signature should be a well-balanced and one-time solution that does not require further investment
Thank you very much for speaking to me when I saw the blood in my heart
Let me see through my inner self and, with the help of the forum, identify the true flaws in my immature ideas
This forum is very candid and I think it is very nutritious and constructive Thank you very much here

Thank you
This forum is very candid and I think it is very nutritious and constructive Thank you very much here
I am currently a genuine user and enthusiast of Naim on this forum, enthusiastic and candid
Under the guidance of insightful insights, I realized the architecture and optimal pairing method of Naim
I am inclined to replace the 5si with the supernait2 in a down-to-earth manner now, and the sound system is a bottomless pit. If you keep thinking about upgrading, there will never be an end. Even if you upgrade to 250dr and 282, you will still think about changing the speaker to Proac d20r and the later stage to 300dr, or further upgrading to a larger apartment to accommodate the audio equipment. Human desire is endless
I seem to have been possessed lately
If I buy this supernait2 this time, I plan to not want to change the device again within a few years Watch more movies, listen to good music, and go outdoors to watch
The world is beautiful, not just with sound equipment
Thank you again to the enthusiasts here

Haha, it’s true that the income level of Naim users in Asia is too low. For users in Europe and the UK, upgrading to Naim’s complex front and rear power supplies and high-end top-level equipment feels too easy Just like buying toys for a few thousand yuan
And when we Asian users buy Naim devices, we have to consider the price more because they usually cost around 10000-20000 yuan per piece, but they end up costing around 30000-50000 yuan. For them, it’s only 2-3 thousand
I want to cry As soon as you enter the Naim Gate, it’s as deep as the sea

Can you get a serviced 82? It’s very very good and a HiCap. Then with 250DR you are laughing!

Or even a Nac 72, once the highest hierarchy Naim preamp, and very good it is a classic.

It will need the hicap but you could start up with a Flatcap.

That said, a Supernait 2 is really fine with the Proacs, they are very easy to run, even a Nait 50 would be splendid.

Thank you for your guidance,
Haha, are you referring to the 282 or the previous 82 model I contacted an old player who specializes in playing naim and an old Jianghu who specializes in operating second-hand naim devices. He said he himself uses a 70000 numbered 82 pre level, and he proudly told me that he doesn’t want to listen to any naim pre level except for that one. I envy that feeling very much. But 82 years old, it’s very difficult for me not to maintain it in the UK factory So this ancient artifact’s level 82 is a legend to me, right
I don’t even know the price of legendary artifacts like 82

Thank you in advance
Haha82, I only recently found out about the famous name
I haven’t even heard of 72
Now looking at SuperNait2, it is indeed a practical and safe choice for me
I have already seen the positive reviews from the reports and forums about Nait50
But as an income person in the Asian region, I always feel that the second-hand price of Supernait2 is almost the same as that of Nait50. Therefore, low-income people should think that Supernait is a better value for large quantities and ample supply
Haha, thank you again

Ha ha ha ha
You super old players I carefully checked the history of Naim, and found that 72, 82, 52 flagship, 62, 92, 102 are all legendary ancient artifacts for beginners like me I admire him greatly
Haha, thank you for sharing your knowledge with me about the ancient history of Naim
I really dare to dream of reaching the top of reality, probably 282 252 is too expensive for me as second-hand
It feels great to broaden one’s horizons Haha, thank you
