I am would like to connect bluetooth transmitter/ receiver auris BluMe duo to nac 252 so I can listen through bluetooth headphones. Can I make this work?
It looks like the BlueMe has a 3.5mm socket for audio input, so you’d need a suitably wired 180deg DIN5 plug to stereo 3.5mm plug cable to connect the BlueMe to the 252.
The 252 has three DIN5 in/out sockets available, either of which can be used for this.
I’ve tired connecting “bluetooth transmitter/ receiver auris BluMe duo” to aux 1 in/out with DIN5 plug to stereo 3.5mm plug cable. I have my naim dac and core connect to aux 2, but can’t hear music coming from aux 1. Do I need to find a naim headline amp to connect the bluetooth transmitter so I can also adjust the volume, The headline Amp has also been discontinued and wondering if there is an alternative headphone amp compatible with naim system.
If your Bluetooth headphones have a volume adjustment then you can use that for volume control. The BluMe doesn’t look like it has anyway of controlling the volume itself.
It sounds like your 3.5mm cable may not be wired correctly to use the output pins on the Aux1 socket.
Remember too that whatever source you want to listen to on the headphones will need to be selected via the lower bank of input buttons on the 252 (and check mute is off)
I using the chord DIN5 plug to stereo 3.5mm plug cable I used to used for my FM tuner. I’m using the Beats fit Pro headphones that has a volume control.
The bluetooth BlueMe is plugged into the aux1 and my Core/ Naim DAC is in the aux2 input… i’ve tried listening with aux2 button engaged with volume down on for the regular speakers and the record aux1 pushed to engage the bluetooth unit, and have also tried with record aux2 pushed but still now sound from the bluetooth headphones.
Just to rule out an issue with the BluMe, you could try connecting the 2xRCA cable that should have come with the BluMe to the RCA outputs on your Naim DAC (you’ll need to switch the output to RCA from DIN).
If that works ok then it sounds like your 3.5mm to DIN5 cable is the issue. How were you using that cable before ?
my understanding of the din5 cables is that there is OUT cables and IN cables…
if you previously used THAT cable as an INPUT to your preamp (from an FM source) then it is the wrong cable to OUTPUT audio FROM your preamp.
Seems like you would need a DIN to RCA/3.5mm cable… (slightly different pin config!!)
My thoughts exactly. I suspect the cable is 3.5mm to DIN 5 when is should be DIN 5 to 3.5mm.
Quite right. If the OP’s Chord cable is wired to the IN configuration pins then it could be tested with the DIN output on the Naim DAC to confirm its configuration.
Yes, on the DIN5 there are a pair of PLAY and a pair of RECORD pins. When connecting a source into a preamp then the PLAY pins are used. When taking a signal out of the pre-amp to a recorder or headphone amp then the RECORD pins are used. This is illustrated on the rear panel of Naim’s pre-amps - see the tape/av/aux1 socket here;
Thank I’ll try thati
I’ve searched for a din output to either rca or mini-jack, but the descriptions are lacking. Any suggestions to a vendor for the cable, thanks
I got mine from EBay. I’m not allowed to post a link, but search for “headphone Din RCA interconnect for Naim”. The seller even messaged me to confirm that I wanted that wiring configuration, which was reassuring.
