How to remove the case work of a Supernait 3

Dear all,

as a result of a direct lightning strike my Supernait 3 (the only damage in the house recorded to date) burned out. After the first discussions with the assurance company, they now want pictures of the inside of the amplifier. The findings on the spot - terrible burning smell whole through the living room - are not enough to justify my demand of their intervention.

So, with bolts to unscrew in order to take of the case work ?

Thx for all necessary information.

You’ll need to remove the feet and also the hex bolt with serrated washer that secures the sleeve to the U tray. Also there may well be other hex bolts that secure the output devices thermally. Be sure to use a good quality Allen key or wrench here as you could otherwise round it out and then it would need to be drilled out.

OK, I’ve just found a picture online of the Supernait 3 underside (thank you theaudiophileman);

This shows the bolts that will need to be removed.

When I had a direct strike that destroyed a whole load of stuff in my house, the insurance co used a loss adjuster. They visited the house and tested and verified everything that I had reported & found some more.

If yr SN3 has taken a hit, be sure to check out the speakers, you might not notice a problem until after you get the SN3 replacement

Hi Richard,

thx for the super quick respons.

Just wanted to be sure I’ll have to unscrew them all. Good keys at home, so now what to do today.

Hello Mike-B,

thx for your supplementary experiences and advices.

Already checked all electric devices in the house and all’s working fine. Seems only the SN3 was struck and none of the devices connected to the SN3 was hit. NDX2, CD5si, Rega Aria, Technics SL1200, TV, everything’s working as before. Neither the main electrical box outside the house nor the circuitbreakers in both electric fuse boxes inside were touched…a bit strange.

Only waiting a test&verification of the fireplace and metal chimney - probably the entry point of the lightning strike to the house - by the installer.

For now the old UQ2 and NAP 100 are back in service, waiting a SN3 replacement.
