You’re right, and this changes the process. Confirmed on Naim’s own support page: Ethernet always takes priority automatically — even if WiFi is configured, the unit will use the wired connection for all network traffic as long as a cable is plugged in.
So the sequence I gave earlier is backwards. What actually needs to happen:
In the Naim app, go to Settings → your NS333 → Network → WiFi and enter your WiFi credentials/select your SSID while still on Ethernet — this saves the WiFi config but won’t actually switch traffic over yet, since Ethernet is still plugged in and takes priority.
Unplug the Ethernet cable from the NS333.
Give it a minute — it should then fall back to the WiFi credentials you already saved and connect wirelessly.
Reopen the Naim app and confirm it reconnects to the streamer and shows a WiFi connection.
Well, I don’t know how it got there, but a combination of setting it up as a new device, getting half way through that before it stalling and me deleting and restarting the app as an existing product.
You shouldn’t have to set up a new device as the app should discover it automatically. Having said that, I’ve had similar issues in the past where the discovery process didn’t work.
When I changed my QB2 from wired to wireless it took about 20 attempts, and after a factory reset I gradually got further through the setup process until I finally reached the end, and it’s been fine ever since.
