I am back

Well i wasn’t looking to purchase any more hifi, and especially not right now.
But an absolute bargain came my way, and it was at a price i couldn’t say no too.

So i have paid for it, yes it’s more than a box. It’s a complete system.

Ndx2 running the old software as it’s been boxed up since October.
252, supercap dr.
300dr amp.

No speakers as the sbl’s he had used with this kit are both damaged. Someone else wants these for spares apparently. But i wasn’t interested in them anyway.
So i will need speakers obviously at some point.
But the question you might be asking yourself is why buy it? Well we are looking at selling our lovely big motorhome, and getting a second house in the sun. So i thought this will do.
Easy to change the voltage to match, and as said the price was crazy low. Plus it will be more than i would have got if this hadn’t popped up.

Going to pick it all up either Thursday or in the new year.

That’s a bonus on the firmware, the system was boxed up early October.
The dealers apparently weren’t that interested in buying it all, and offered very low prices on it all. I guess as he was just selling it all and not buying anything from them? Plus time of the year maybe.
He is unfortunately going through a messy situation at home and needs the money. I said to him if he gets himself sorted he can have it back, if he wants, as long as i haven’t got myself a place in the sun by then, as i felt a bit sorry for him really.
But will plug it all in and try it all, just to make sure it all works as it should. I do have a video of it all working just before it was all boxed up, and pictures of it all un boxed and boxed up.

very gentlemanly of you @Dunc i would feel the same i think. i have certainly sold something in the past (not hifi) and said if they changed their mind i was happy to swap back.

Never had a 252 in my system, as went from 52 to 552.
Back in the day i chose the NDS over the new at the time NDX2, as in my system at the time the NDS just had the edge for me, being slightly less digital sounding.
Had a 300dr before and know what to expect with this. A nice amp with the right speakers.

Not sure obviously what speakers to go for, as obviously i don’t know what sort of room they will be going in, as we haven’t even found the villa yet. So will probably buy them when we finally find the place and get moved in.
So for now it will probably stay all boxed up once i have tested it all. Unless my best mate wants to try any off it.

I obviously dont want to say what i got it all for, but it was a bargin.
He could have got a lot more looking at sold prices on ebay, but he couldn’t go that way, for reason i don’t want to go into. But obviously it’s not stolen as already checked that out.
Update getting it Thursday

good luck - hope it all works out

It will be more than i will need if being honest.
I was looking at just getting some cheap active speakers and running my mojo2 into it. Obviously that’s far different to this now. But then i really enjoy my music, and if i am going to be spending 6 months out there in the future or even longer, then i will certainly want to have decent sounding music out there.

One question to anyone that might know. Can you simply copy music from a melco over to a core? As he has one.
But i want my music on it and i have it all back up on a drive, but i think that will only back up to a melco, but i could be wrong as never tried it. But i guess the other way is through a pc. Just want easy.

Scrap that. It’s not a core its the unitiserve, and not interested in buying one off them. I did think £350 was far too much of a bargin lol.
But still interested about the coping question i asked.

Err….

Just speakers and a rack to buy. The fun starts again, Dunc, and what a nice 2nd setup to have. Probably warrants an XPSDR for the NDX2 to bring this in line with the amps. I’ve no idea with the Melco, I assume you can copy the music content to a NAS and take this with you.

Have you decided where you are planning to purchase this Sun soaked dwelling :slightly_smiling_face:

Rack, speakers not sure obviously.
As for where, well i think we will probably rent a few places for a month at a time as we have a few places to try that we liked when travelling around in the motorhome.
But basically mercia area for the better weather. But lets see.
As for a power supply, not going to say no. But at the same time i want to keep it simple. So more boxes i don’t really want.

Yes easy if you know. But we can’t talk about it

Murcia Spain or Mercia, Welsh borders? Both should have the right electricity.

Spain but anything can happen yet, even France.
Obviously not going to do anything voltage wise till we get a place sorted, as it could be right already.

Sounds great and was potentially close to my my end point having purchased a SupercapDR in anticipation of replacing NAC 282 with a NAC 252 - then of course old classic was discontinued.

This prompted me to check on availability of a pre-loved accessory which had not moved for months which I couldn’t quite justify before the New Year. Now typically gone of course which makes me consider if I want to stick with the rest of the system as without the accessory certain upgrade paths don’t quite work anymore

If it’s Spain you don’t need to alter the voltage. It’s the same as the U.K. so not an issue.

The files on the Melco probably is Minimserver? I copied from my Melco to sonicTransporter second system for a while. I just got a USB-case for the SSD-drive and plugged into a laptop, copied from the Melco over the network by enabling SMB and then moved the SSD-drive back to the sonicTransporter plugin-slot.
