I want to upgrade and replace the 5si combined amplifier with a 250.2 amplifier I would like to refer to everyone's opinions

As I understand it the Nova is basically the XS3 and ND5XS2 in one box. So it gives a step up from your Naim 5 as well as streaming.

I would say that the NAIT50 was built for a specific market - and it fills those customers expectations brilliantly . The NOVA is built for a different market and it fulfils the needs of those customers as well .

I would say that the NOVA is a step up from your exiting needs but the Naim power amp needs a Naim Pre_Amp.

Naim build different products for different customers

What do I feel about the comparison between Nova and 5si Compare the nova and 5si amplifier parts separately using a decoder. Go push a pair of speakers The comparison situation is
Nova’s information content has increased, Nova is not the kind that is plump, moist, and sweeter But Nova’s lines have become better The sense of form becomes fuller and more atmospheric Nova is not too dry, it still has a moisturizing feeling, but it is not too greasy The extension of high and low frequencies has become better The air quality at extremely high frequencies is significantly better than that of 5si. Overall, Nova has indeed taken a step forward compared to 5si. This step is not small yet
But the most precious aspect of the. 5s is its agility, elegance, and spiritual energy, which Nova has not expressed This is still one of the biggest advantages of 5si that I like to this day.

There is one more thing that surprises me greatly
I have 3 decoders dac
1 chord hugo1
2 lavry da11
3 Naim Nova
I see that the forum here has a very high evaluation of Hugo. I feel like it’s going to surpass the dac part of Nova or regular Naim streaming audio But it doesn’t sound like that to me
I only rotate dac for comparison when my front and rear devices are the same At the front, the ifi zen stream is coaxial input to Hugo1 and Lavry da11, followed by a 5-si amplifier and Proac t10 signature speaker My comparative feeling is that the sound quality of Lavry da11 surpasses that of Hugo 1. Hugo, I used to really like it too. I bought it second-hand in 2018 and have been using it until now when I purchased Nova and DA11. Hugo1 is my main DAC decoder. But Hugo has a very dark tone The audio-visual form feels like a semicircle Ultra high frequency convergence, some dullness is not unclear, but rather a softening in tuning, and the mid frequency part is full, moisturizing, and beautifully dyed Overall, it presents a semi-circular feeling The low-frequency and extremely low frequency contours are not very clear Set the atmosphere on the upper half The overall sense of music is very good, very beautiful But the overall lines and details feel a bit polished off And the information content of da11 immediately increased, surpassing that of hugo1 by one level The overall lines and contours are handled very well, clearer, more detailed, and transparent than Hugo And the musical expression of da11 is also very good, it has a warm, slightly warm, and slightly sweet tone, which is very pleasant to listen to. It is more atmospheric and sunny than hugo1 Yanshen at both high and low frequencies is better than Hugo1 Overall, it is not as dull, yellow, gray, or blurry as Hugo1. I instantly fell in love with the tuning feeling of the Lavry da11 when I compared it with my ear. I think the quality of sound and musicality are significantly better than those of the Hugo1

The 250DR will arrive first, and the 282 is still on the way. Today, let’s first experience the DA11 front-end direct output of the 250DR. Now, let’s listen to the 250DR directly connected to the DA11. Lavry’s decoder from the United States has an extremely excellent gallbladder tuning with the front-end. After the 250DR is installed, it sounds like a gallbladder machine. The signal cable passes through the AudioQuest cable, which is Saint’s flagship copper wire Colorado. A few centimeters long fever adapter cable is used to convert the RCA female port to the DIN port. The RPROAC T10 signature version speaker has a Nordost music ribbon Heimdar 2 speaker cable. The emotional and typical sound of a gallbladder machine is rich. Although it is not the light, small, and agile feeling of the 5SI, it is warm, atmospheric, rich, moist, smooth, delicate, and juicy. It’s not too artificial, it hits the soul directly, it sounds so good that people are crazy

Not wanting to poke fun at you as English is clearly not your first language (neither is it mine) but your last post reads more like it belongs in a surgeons forum. I especially like the ‘smooth, delicate and juicy’ (I guess that has to be in the vocabulary of surgeons  )

Joking aside, you will have a very nice system by the looks of it.

haha thk u

It’s hard to imagine that the juice is abundant, sweet, and the sweetness is not weak. It’s the kind of heart penetrating sweetness that’s not cloying, too nourishing. The full frequency is extremely full, and the high frequency is not so outstanding. The extension is very natural, and the low-frequency performance is very elastic. The sense of fullness is very full and not excessive. It turns out that 5si doesn’t show a thick lower body at all. The simulation feeling is completely different from 5si. 5si is like watching an opera on the distant stage from the second floor of a theater, hearing distant sounds, seeing small people wearing feather cloaks on the stage, including actors dancing and singing on the stage. Now, when pulled down to the golden position in the front row of the theater on the first floor, they directly participate in the performance and the actors sing in front of them. I seem to be dancing and singing with them on stage

My English is terrible, sorry

However, the unique clarity and lightness of the 5si have not been demonstrated by the Nova and 250dr, so I am very impressed by the tuning of the Naim. At the entry-level power level of the 5si, there is this valuable advantage, which even more advanced merge machines and later stages do not have. I really appreciate the artistic level of tuning by the Naim manufacturer, which is amazing

now 5si ,282+250dr

The entry-level integrated amplifier like the Naim 5si is like a young woman who is delicate, charming, and flirtatious in an effortless way—light, agile, and subtly seductive, with a kind of intimate, “small-town elegance.”

But once you step into a higher-tier separates system like the NAC 282 preamp paired with a NAP 250DR power amplifier, the character transforms completely.

It no longer needs to rely on flirtation or ornamentation. There is no attempt to impress through charm or seduction. Instead, it simply stands there with quiet authority—composed, grounded, and self-assured.

There is a sense of calm presence, effortless confidence, and unforced dignity. The music no longer “performs”; it simply is. Everything flows with ease, balance, and natural grace, as if nothing needs to be proven.

It becomes something closer to sovereign elegance—serene, poised, and unmistakably commanding in its stillness.

In short: from playful charm to regal composure; from delicate allure to a presence of quiet, undeniable majesty.

What makes Naim Audio truly remarkable is that, regardless of scale or hierarchy, every product in its range carries a distinct and compelling musical identity.

Even the entry-level 5si is not merely “beginner equipment.” It has its own unmistakable charm—playful, vivid, and subtly seductive, with a lively emotional expressiveness that draws you in effortlessly. It feels intimate, engaging, and full of character.

As one moves upward to a higher-tier system such as a preamplifier like the NAC 282 paired with a power amplifier like the NAP 250DR, the character evolves rather than simply improves. The sound no longer relies on charm or ornamentation. Instead, it takes on a sense of calm authority—poised, spacious, and self-assured.

There is a natural ease to it, a quiet confidence and composure that feels unforced. The music breathes with balance and dignity, as if it no longer needs to “perform,” but simply exists in its most complete and truthful form.

Yet what is most extraordinary about Naim is that none of these identities cancel each other out. The character of the 5si remains memorable even after experiencing the higher systems. Each level retains its own emotional signature and artistic personality, capable of moving and captivating the listener in its own way.

This is why I find myself so firmly committed to Naim. It feels less like buying audio equipment and more like engaging with a philosophy—one shaped by designers and engineers who deeply understand how music should feel, flow, and communicate emotion.

Over time, this philosophy has matured into something closer to an art form, comparable to music, cinema, or literature—each a medium that exists not merely to reproduce reality, but to express, shape, and transmit human emotion.

In that sense, stepping into Naim feels like entering something vast and absorbing—once inside, it is difficult to leave.

Human beings, in their capacity to create something so emotionally articulate from engineering and design, are truly extraordinary.

Steady old boy, your partner may get jealous and thinks you’ve got ‘a thing going’ there.

And this is the reason why you want to change it?

With a full Naim CDX2 / Naim NAC 282 / Naim NAP 250DR system driving the ProAc T10 Signature speakers, playing CDs becomes something far beyond simply “listening to audio.”

The presentation is utterly balanced, with a natural extension at both ends of the spectrum. It is not a sound that seeks thickness or richness for its own sake; rather, it flows like a vast, open river — even, graceful, organic, and endlessly fluid.

The extreme highs do not float upward in an exaggerated display of airiness, nor do they feel dark or restrained. Everything arrives in perfect proportion, bathed in the gentle warmth of a cloudy early-spring afternoon sun — soft, calm, quietly radiant.

The music unfolds with effortless ease, stretching naturally into space, as if lying peacefully beneath sunlight, allowing wave after wave of sound to wash over and cleanse the soul.

Nothing calls attention to itself. Add one degree more, and it would become excessive; take one degree away, and something essential would be lost. It exists in a state of perfect release and restraint, a flawless equilibrium of emotional tension and relaxation.

What remains is a profound sense of serenity — something almost impossible to describe in words. It is simply… comfort. A complete surrender of the mind.

As the music flows, all worldly thoughts quietly dissolve. The mind empties itself completely; every burden, every distraction, every trivial concern fades into silence. The body moves unconsciously with the rhythm, while the soul itself seems to dance in another dimension.

The feeling cannot truly be communicated. It is something close to liberation, yet also to emptiness — a state of utter stillness, as though all things in the world have fallen silent at once.

Your imagery is certainly interesting!

What ic people want the quiet authority, clmposed, grounded, selfassured but also seductive and charming impressing without without attempting to impress?

It feels a bit like reading books. After finishing one, I naturally want to experience another—perhaps even more captivating—one, to explore different expressions and interpretations of beauty.

So, almost as if guided by a kind of irresistible curiosity, after moving on from the Supernait 5i system, I found myself drawn into the world of the Naim NAP 250DR and Naim NAC 282 setup. It feels like a kind of immersive fascination, as though one becomes absorbed in the pursuit of different sonic worlds.

It is similar to appreciating Whitney Houston’s voice without diminishing the enjoyment of Mariah Carey’s music—each offering a completely different interpretation, tone, and expressive style. That difference itself is what makes it so rewarding.

In this sense, it becomes a purer way of listening to music: not just consuming songs, but moving between systems and recordings to experience how beauty is shaped and reinterpreted in different ways.

The joy lies in this shifting perspective—listening to a wide range of music while also changing systems, discovering how each setup reshapes tone, emotion, and artistic expression.

Now you’ve lost me completely

You could think of it this way: the interpretation of the Supernait 5i feels like Mariah Carey singing, while the interpretation of the Naim NAC 282 + Naim NAP 250DR system feels like Whitney Houston’s voice. I love both.

They are different ways of interpreting and expressing music, yet both carry their own aesthetic value and are equally captivating and intoxicating in their own way.

Overall, I find myself leaning more toward the expressive style of the 282 + 250DR system, while still not completely denying the beauty of the 5i.
