Identifying 555PS-DR and nDAC finishes

Seeking advice from the learned here, please.

I have a 555PS-DR supplementing power to my nDAC and am not sure what the finish is on my 555PS-DR ?

The 555PS-DR was purchased new from a dealer in 2022, so is probably a 2020/21 manufacture.

The front facia of both the 555PS-DR and nDAC seem identical with a nice smooth metallic sheen.

However the nDAC sides and top are a rough texture, whereas the top and sides of 555PS-DR has the nice smooth metallic sheen identical to it’s front facia.

I’ve had a read in this forum, but was not convinced about what I have ?

The 555 is part of the reference 500 series and has a premium brushed anodised finish. The nDac has a powder coated finish which is less premium. The 555 can also be ordered in powdercoated finish with a reduced price.

Thankyou for your reply. If I interpret Naim sources on the www together with your explanation:

The Classic finish has the rough powder coating only on the top and sides, and brushed anodised aluminum on the front.

The 500 Reference finish has brushed anodised aluminum on the front & top & sides.

555PSDR have two diffierent finish to chose from when placing order. The brushed one being more expensive.
