But 3.11 is 3.10ish than good old 3.8, so let 3.12 please be more like 3.8 again - hence a small change in SQ
Can you still access the webclient?
- now the system is working
- I have no idea whether I turned HDMI on or off
Frankly, Iām afraid to play around with this web client
Any advice appreciated*
in fact now when I open the webclient, I donāt see the choice for any external inputs or HDMI at all
IOW I donāt see a HDMI showing up and thus no idea if this setting is on or off. Not sure how I messed it up
If music is playing now Iād leave it alone.
Iāve asked for these settings to be in the Naim App in the past, as Naim do not like people poking the WC interface, as you have to be very careful.
But in worse-case, a Factory Reset puts everything back to default settings.
Iām just appreciative of being able to ātuneā my ND555 to suit my system and SQ preferences where that is possible - but I am extremely careful. On a big screen and not with a big thumb on a tiny phone is best. ![]()

Thanks
What is strange is I donāt even see the HDMI to click on
Itās disappeared
System is sounding very good not sure whether itās different or even whether I made any changes by clicking on HDMI. My intention was to shut it off and see how the sound changes.
In my opinion the first thing you did was click on HDMI. But that was actually choosing another input. Therefore the music stopped playing.
If you would have clicked on the file icon on top you would then have probably gone back to the former page in the web client.
The option for enabling/disabling HDMI is elsewhere.
I have an NDX2 in my second system Ian and if you feel confident Darkebearās excellent disabling the HDMI input tweak in Webclient is the most significant one of its type yet IMO.
As for the next FW I am confident that the team will do everything they can to create and select a version that fits as close as possible to the traditional Naim sound. But we just have to accept that commercial demands and designs from third party software providers influence streamed music sound. The guys at HQ can only make the most of what they have to work with. At least 3.11 was a step in the right direction after 3.10. Onwards and upwards I hope ![]()
We have had that turned off since the day the FW came out.
Our NDX2 has always had every unused input (real or not) set to off since the day we installed it.
When the new FW drops we will reconfirm via webclient.
@Amarok thanks
I donāt seem to have a file icon but wonder if my ipad screen too small to see.
Will try on desk top later.
If I find file icon how does one turn off HDMI?
Is it really worth it?
David
Well, normally I would post some screen shots to help out. That way youād have better understanding of what I mean. But as Naim themselves advise against customers adjusting things in the web client I donāt think thatās a decent thing to do.
Maybe itās just best to leave things as they are I guess, as there isnāt anything changed on your side as far as I can tell.
From the main UI menu:
Settings / Inputs & Sources / External inputs / HDMI
Once you click on HDMI, you will see a button to check, called āDisable inputā.
Use the file icon at the top of each list to return to the previous list.
I assume the sensitivity around the web client is to limit calls to support in case something goes wrong. It is a very basic, simple interface and a factory reset gets you back to square one if you lose track of changes.
Did the hdmi off selection work well for you as well?
I had a quick period with nd555 back in 3 weeks ago but going back to nds was eyeopening again. The smooth analoge like mid textures are something I never heared anywhere before. The closest was nd555 with ⦠you know the number
When I tried it during the previous firmware, it didnāt help. In fact, I cant say I noticed a change at all.
I left it at the default (on) setting until recently but I also recently replaced the connectors on my speaker cable. I now notice a very positive change but I cant be sure where that change has come from. Once I have a few more hours on the connectors, I might experiment with the HDMI settingā¦or I might just leave it as it is (off) since I am very much enjoying my system again.
Make it so ![]()
I also had this problem with Ndx2 last firmware I bought I robot album from qobuz in dsf format and now there is a gap between the two final track very annoing
Did you have solve or response of that problem?
Hi. I flagged this up with Naim in May who initially said it was a problem with Asset UPNP. I insisted the problem only arose after the last Naim firmware update but they still didnāt accept it as a Naim issue at this point. I suggested it must be a Naim issue as the gaps also occur when using the USB input and I hadnāt updated Asset recently. Eventually, as it all went quiet for several weeks, I went to my dealer who contacted Naim and then a nice chap called Duncan contacted me directly acknowledging it was an issue they were trying to fix. The last contact I had from him was a few weeks ago to tell me that the problem had been fixed and would be be corrected through the next firmware update which they āhope to have out by the end of the monthā (October). Iām glad they appear to have fixed it but the wait has been very frustrating.
I have the same problem with that album and format on my Core/ND555. Good to read that itās acknowledged as a problem and is getting resolved.
I was finally able to turn HDMI off on my ND555 using webclient
Have to say the music seems better, less harsh and a bit more organic.
Admittedly could be expectation bias on my part, but Iām enjoying my system today.
More bass as well, in a good way
Less fatiguing sound
Thanks to all who made me aware of this modification
David
The question still remains : will it be a permanent improvement or the same phenomenon as with the usb stick. The harshness will come back after some days ?
