It’s always a battle in my head; Greatest Sinatra album. In the Wee Small Hours vs Song for Only the Lonely. But anyways….Just got the Blue Note Twin Tone reissue LP of Wee Small Hours. What a fantastic version, issue or whatever you want to call it. The sound is so spectacular. Compared to hi Rez stream of qobuz, it’s really night and day and I don’t say that lightly
Beautiful record.
It’s Tone Poet. ![]()
The producer and curator of the series is Joe Harley. Charles Lloyd is one of the artists he has produced over the decades. It was Charles that gave Joe the nickname “Tone Poet;” thus, the name of the reissue series.
This reissue of the Sinatra is amazing. They assembled a set of original tapes for it that had never been used, ever.
You should hear this reissue played with a real mono cartridge (I have a Lyra Atlas Mono). Mind blowing. ![]()
It is indeed, a beautiful album.
Great record!
OMG. I am so embarrassed ! I must have been thinking of the Replacements
Nice. I use the humble Goldring E3….For the price it’s pretty rockin
I am certifiable when it comes to investment in analog. ![]()
It’s still better than what I have currently. (No TT yet)
And since you still have no TT, on Saturday morning, I will…
I have a TechDAS Air Force Zero turntable on order LOL
I look forward to the pictures in the new gear thread.
You know you’re in real trouble now, right?
Only a matter of time before Stink! is out on Tone Poet though
.
Do you have the re-release of Tim. I have the vinyl version. It’s worth the $80. Here Comes a Regular is one of the best songs ever
what does that even mean?

A response to @GregU referencing the nighty Replacements with a certain wry amusement.
I’ve streamed it and have mixed feelings about it. Technically an impressive achievement but it’s just not got the coherence or power of the originals and, for me, makes each song less than the sum of its parts.
Think! is out as a Blue Note Classic..![]()
sold out in UK
