What’s the identifying factor on the sleeve or record for the TP remaster? There are a few for sale that I can see online, but not 100% sure they’re the ones. Seem like they’re getting bundled in with the 2014 remaster.
The Tone Poet version,
- is a gatefold
- has the Tone Poet hype sticker on front (assuming new)
- has a barcode on the back: 602478450242
- states “LP Supervision: Joe Harley” and “LP Mastering: Kevin Gray, Cohearent Audio” inside the gatefold
- is not numbered and not a limited edition
Other versions won’t be anything like the Tone Poet, because Joe and Kevin assembled a set of analog tapes that had never been used before, and were in better shape than those that had been used repeatedly over the decades.

I bought one couple of years back that was limited edition , it’s awful.
I’ve got this one, it’s sublime.

It’s bloody tragic and advertised on Amazon as limited edition.
Don’t tell bobthebuilder as I’m pretty sure he took me to task to send it back so that the crooks don’t profit, and he is right. I keep it as a symbol of shame.

The only place I see the SN is on the website where it’s sold out. No one else has it listed, nor a cover photo where I can see the TP sticker.
Think this is one that I have to find in person.
I think I heard it was sold out and waiting for a repress, so you’ll need to find a copy still in the retail channel or wait for the repress.

I looked online. There are a few places that have the vinyl listed on back order but available in march
I have no doubt a repress is coming. I think Blue Note underestimated the reception it received and under-ordered stock, and RTI is a very busy plant. New retail copies will be here sooner or later.
Officially, no Tone Poets go out of print, they just go out of stock.
My wife believes that Frank was a bad man. Was he?
Don’t know. Never met the guy. But I do like his music.
He certainly had connections to the Mafia - and at a very high level, but he is also noted for his rigorous support for coloured musicians at a time when this was far from normal
Just don’t leave him with your wife and daughter…

There’s a Tone Poet “In the Wee Small Hours” that Bluenote says will ship in March 2026.
I think it’s stereo (webpage doesn’t say).

There were never any stereo tapes for that album. It’s mono, and sounds glorious too.
This album was already released in November. That March ‘26 shipping date is apparently for a repress after it sold out in the first round.

The album is wonderful sounding. I find the performance a bit . . . boring . . .
It’s one of those albums I want to listen to because it sounds so good, but then I turn it off early because the music bores me. Just a matter of taste!
