I have but one record that falls into this genre but I very much enjoy it
Devashish Bhattacharya Plays the lap slide guitar - brilliant stuff.
Also for Indian inspired/influenced you can’t go wrong with Nitin Sawhney

Hi Charles. I’d be very interested to listen to one of those 1950’s recordings you mention. Is there one you would recommend as a good introduction from those artists you mention?
This latest release from Arooj Aftab is getting a lot of rotation for me. Traditional and modern styles, she sings in her native tongue and in English. I find it thoroughly enchanting.
Beautiful missed out on a vinyl copy but hopefully a repress should come out soon.
I bought this LP in the 90s and played it to death. I recently managed to find a CD version, which had a couple of extra tracks. Beautiful music and well recorded:
Listening to this earlier release of hers also very good. New age it is not. Sometimes Roons/Qobuz tagging are just plain wrong.
Cerys played this on 6music today. Absolutely divine. Some interesting background on the source material. Says she’s going to get her on for an interview soon.
Got that on right now. Very nice.
