Innous FW Update - any risks according SQ

Hi

I run an zenith mk3 and I am still at 2.6.3 FW.

There has been a lot happened after that and a big update was brought with 3.x.x.

I am very careful after what happened with my naim streamer. Has anyone here had the impression that the sound quality was altered with innous fw Updates.

Thanks a lot

Didn’t notice any with mine whilst I owned it.

Of course, YMMV.

I’ve not noticed any changes in SQ, but worth checking out Innuos own forum, INNsights and the InnUOS Feedback Zone.

No, I’ve always found it a positive experience.

There have been so many releases since 2.6.3, I cannot recall all the changes and certainly can’t superimpose them all together to advise what the overall effect to sound quality has been between 2.6.3 and 3.3.4. As you will not be able to go back once you hit the update button, I can’t say unreservedly go ahead.

The functionality has definitely improved, new functions added like Qobuz Connect and the UPNP bridge that allows Innuos Sense to control the NDS. So, there are upsides.

I know, that’s the reason I am tempted

There have been changes in sound quality on some updates but they have always been positive in my experience.

But changes could be positive for the many and not for the few. Maybe I stay where I am

You…. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

FWIW none of the Innuos FW updates since I ‘ve had my Statement (a few years) has had a negative impact on sound quality.

And you know the impacts of 3.10 upwards very well - that gives hope…. Maybe I pull the innous trigger.

Yes. We still haven’t got the full texture back….

Agree with others here that Innuos’ FW changes have been positive for SQ. In particular, the latest update from Sense 3.3 to 3.4 seems to have breathed new life into my NDS.

Go for it, take the plunge!

3.4 is still in beta. It has new UPNP profiles for Naim kit which I haven’t yet figured out how to apply. Otherwise it sounds great.

Ah yes, forgot 3.4 is still beta.

I do find the Sense app settings a bit confusing e.g. ‘UPnP integration: Use to activate UPnP server on your systems’.

Turning this on or off seems to make no difference to anything i.e. streaming works fine either way.

Streaming via a Naim streamer app or other upnp streamer of files on the Innuos box will only work when the UPNP service is running on the Innuos box. Turn the UPNP service off and you can still stream from the Innuos sense app, but you lose it from the Naim app. One less process running on the Innuos box sounds slightly better to my old ears.
