I hear what you’re saying. My understanding is also that the original interconnect cables are quite good, and I’m not dissatisfied with them either.
However, I have an interconnect from my CDX2, DIN to RCA on my 272. This is made by another company that specialises in making cables for Naim boxes (I won’t mention the name because it’s against the rules).
This interconnect sounds excellent.
@Peter63
There is another company that makes my Mogami cables I’d run past to keep the cables the same.
But I can’t post a link.
But his name is Yannis Tomé
I use a Transparant Super interconnect from my 272 to 250dr. I liked it better than the Chord equivalent. The latter sounded brighter in my setup, a little harsh. The Transparant was more robust in the low, more precise and transparant.
Moving to Vertere Redline cables was the biggest single upgrade I have ever made in a hifi system. Each one was an instant difference. Not just different, but better in all the ways that people describe hi fi improvements. A bigger difference than adding an NPX300 PS, if that helps to pitch value for money.
I auditioned Clearway, Shawline and Epic rca at the same occasion.
Shawline and Epic were very close to my ear, but Clearway sounded thin in comparison.
I’m in full agreement with you @BrendanD. Redline is a major upgrade in both power cables and interconnects. The OP has already said that Epic X “Still a bit pricey though”.
That statement puts Redline way out of the OP’s budget.
Hi Chris. If I use it with my 300 then its balanced? Im not shure what it means with balanced. Is it the connection or the cable in it self? Im confused
If you mean a NAP300 it’s unbalanced, like your 250, despite the fact that these amps use XLR plugs more commonly found in balanced connections.
If you mean 300 series (New Classic) these do use balanced connections with XLR on both ends, and these are not ‘Naim specific’ cables.
Let’s say I bought them “balanced”. It’s what’s said in the specs. Manufactured for this Naim solution only. It uses one analoge 4pins DIN of the 272 to the XLR of the 250dr. Only some manufacturers sell these interconnects apart from Naim I’ve been told.
Anyway, I am happy with it.
