Interconnects for ND5 XS 2 to Nait XS

I’ve just bought an ND5 XS 2 streamer to use with my Nait XS amp. It came with what I assume is the standard Naim DIM to DIM interconnect (5mm light grey cable with a green band on one end with NA-0257 on it). Is that cable directional and is it decent quality? What would be a reasonable upgrade, without spending a fortune?

The band goes at the source end. It’s a very fine cable and perfect for your system.

I agree absolutely with HH, the lavender served my ND5 XS2 well for the whole time I owned it.

I started my Naim journey with the SN3 and ND5XS2. Consequently take what I say with a grain of salt. I was not impressed with Naim interconnects. For me, the highs were muted. I preferred Chord. Also the SQ improved as I went up the Chord range. My speakers were the Spendor A4, if that has anything to do with my experience. Yet when I progressed to the 332/333/NC250, I lived with the base Naim interconnects for several months before upgrading. Perhaps it has something to do with the different signature of the NC series?

I have used the standard interconnect for a long time and it is fine. But I replaced it with an attenuated Russ Andrews cable, because I wanted to solve an Nait XS3 balance issue at lower volumes.

Thanks for your replies. I had been using an old Ixos interconnect. Now I’ve swapped that for the lavender, and got it the right way around, it sounds fantastic.
