Never read a Jilly Cooper novel, so not likely to watch any tv adaptation.
They’ve decided to go completely over ‘over the top’. As you say, it’s a bit of fun.

Watched it last night, god I wish I had his energy. Unfortunately he didn’t bring that tour down under his probably one of the only artist I bother to see these days.
Excellent doco great sound /picture 4K and Dolby.
Recorded it, but yet to see it.
Same here Mrs Pete thought there was way too much sex (oddly enough I hadn’t noticed). But I certainly didn’t recognise Sacha Baron Cohen, had the same problem with a movie he was in a few years ago when was an Israeli spy.
But I am enjoying it.
Plus I’ve had a crush on Cate Blanchett for years.
@Pete_the_painter ….Hi Pete hope your recovery is going well.
Agree with you about the only artist you would pay to see.
In fact after watching the documentary my partner book tickets for his gig In Liverpool next June.

There’s rumours his coming in February/March next year but it’s yet to be confirmed.
Interesting hour long interview with Al Pacino last night on BBC. I say an hour long, but how frustrating that there were so many clips played of his movies when all one wanted to hear was the fascinating Al. The other frustrating thing was that idiot interviewer who was full of himself, butting in and asking stupid questions. Al being a gent by saying they were good.
He seemed very contented and happy. Suppose that’s what age brings. This guy has always been a genius actor and so interesting to hear his comment about Coppola initially not being happy with his acting skills in the beginning of The Godfather. He thought Al was not ‘cutting it’. However, Al was underplaying on purpose, as he wanted to build the character as the plot continued, because this is how Michael grew. The Godfather is pure class.
We’re binge watching Vera at the moment.
Nice scenery being in Northumbria.
DG…
We are catching up with the latest series of Industry. It’s a brilliant programme with some fine acting and great characters, all of whom are flawed in some way. Despite all their money, nobody seems happy or content.
I saw her first, mate!
Just back from a 5 day Vera-themed holiday based in Newcastle and visiting sites in the area. Great scenery!

Excellent series - best of the 3 series so far. Last episode tonight!
Was that an organised thing?
DG…

Yes I watched it too - excellent. You’re right about the interviewer, he’s a complete *******, how the bbc get such good access to stars and then put them on front of him is incomprehensible. He’s the same idiot who cornered Andrew Scott on the red carpet at the BAFTAS and hit him with cringeworthy questions which he got well deserved flack for. Great doc otherwise, Pacino is an inspiration.
Actually quite enjoying Nautilus - apparently commissioned for Disney who refused to distribute it so picked up by Prime.
A fun family offering I think.
First episode seemed too heavily anti-colonial and a bit woke early on but settles down into not too cerebral adventure territory.
I really like all the brassy engineering bits and bobs visually, and there are a couple of hammy baddies.
Reading around seems it may actually be pretty true to the later Verne narrative - Nemo apparently Polish initially but Indian in later revisions.
I’ve always liked the series though some of the episodes are downright depressing. Perhaps they are just too true to life. I’m a Brenda Blethyn fan but was in Durham recently and some of the locals were ‘disappointed’ with her accent. It sounds good to me so I dodged that topic and we agreed that the scenery in the NE is both great and under appreciated.
