Having just secured a Disney subscription, we’re enjoying “Paradise”.
SWMBO found the initial episode slow, but it soon gets interesting.

And Gavin in ‘The Cuckoo Waltz’ alongside Diane Keen - he was quite humorous in that.
Detective Hole on Netflix … this song grabbed my attention, and I was surprised to find it in my collection.
I read some reviews and watched the trailer. Looked like one to avoid for me. Not target audience.
Rockfield : The Studio On The Farm (Amazon Prime)
Apparently this was made in 2020 but I only came across recently. It’s a fascinating look at the establishment of Rockfield Studies in Monmouth. Lots of stories and anecdotes from the “classic” rock folks (Ozzy, Iommi, Plant), lots of Simple Minds and swacks of stuff on bands like The Stone Roses, Charlatans, Oasis, Boo Radleys etc. I hadn’t realized that Rob Collins (Charlatans Keyboard player) death in a car crash had actually occurred while the band were resident at Rockfield.
It’s a very enjoyable watch for anyone with an interest in rock music.
Sorry to say, but Liam Gallagher still comes over as a bit of ….
I have read all the Harry Hole books. Would I be disappointed in the tv series? I usually am.
I am not a subscriber but a bottle of Chardonnay offered to the ‘watch out for each other mate’ over the road might get me in for a couple of episodes.
They are available on iPlayer from tomorrow.
My favourite Doctor Who story!
Well it starts at book 5 (devil’s star?).
It’s better than I expected
They’re up now.
Just started watching The Nightmare Begins.
Interesting looking communications device at 5’49’’ Mrs Whitehouse would have been in her element.
Thank you, I still listen and enjoy these. Have His Carcass is I think one of the greatest detective stories ever written.
Just watched them both and The Day of Armageddon. Absolutely brilliant! Wonderful how fluffed lines were simply glossed over! Amazing how the technology of the far future was imagined 60 years ago.
Just watching the first. Is that colonel/brigadier leftbridge stewart?
Well, two episodes in and I’m hooked. ![]()
It his he went on to play the Brigadier some years later.
Anyone watching Dire Straits “On The Night” concert on Sky Arts (freeview ch36)
Yes I know Dire Straits is a bit marmite for some folks, but those guys can sure play tunes, so many styles, complex arrangement’s, all note perfect, and via my Naim it keeps the bands magic, pace, rhythm and timing
Yes, I caught the last half hour, and really enjoyed it. My only disappointment was missing Sultans of Swing, one of my top ten songs of all time. Mark Knopfler and co are among my most streamed on Tidal. Masters of their instruments. I saw them live in Sheffield in the 90s, and, like last night’s concert, they were note perfect but a bit lacking in “personality” and audience engagement.
Just watched on Amazon Prime the film “The Chorus”. An excellent WW1 period drama about a choral society performing Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius. Powerful, with adult themes but also humour. Excellent from Ralph Fiennes, Roger Allam, Alun Armstrong etc. Written by Alan Bennett. My only disappointment was a disrespectful portrayal of Edward Elgar’s character.
Hope it’s as good as the previous two, looks like just Ian and Will carried forward (but Dr Who is still narrating, which is good).
I see there’s a character call Phil Plank, can’t wait! ![]()
