Internet radio not working

Spent several hours today rebooting routers and switches, and changing cables and getting very frustrated, as my Qute 1.5 suddenly stopped streaming radio and am very relieved to have found this thread.

Like you I can use my Qube2 and then multi room across to the Qute which works fine - phew!!

Also found this temporary way around → installing ‘BubbleUPnP’ on smarthphone, copying radio url-streams in playlist and choosing Naim Uniti as UPnP client.

You have to search of course first for the correct url-streams of the radiostation you want to listen to. They can separately be saved as different playlists.

Hi Versteegh, I’ve now sorted out the problem, all due to me not fully understanding the relationship between the firmware updates and my use of the Naim app. Here’s what I did which I hope will be of use to you in fixing your problem.

  1. on my NDX2, I checked the firmware in the app’s ‘systems settings’ section. It said the firmware was fully up to date with version 3.10.1. However my internet radio was still not working when I selected a radio station in either favourites or presets. Then I realised that I had to delete all my existing presets/favourites and download them anew from internet radio in the app. All now works perfectly. Several months ago when I downloaded the latest firmware, I ( mistakenly ) assumed it would automatically move all my radio presets over to the new system. Unfortunately not , and my presets were still selecting the v tuner stations, hence the need to delete them and reselect.
  2. I then moved to my Uniti Atom 2 in another room. That had out of date firmware and was showing I needed to update. Out of interest when I selected the “Internet Radio” tab in the app, no stations were shown, almost as if I wasn’t connected to the internet. ( which I was ). I downloaded the latest firmware ( about 7mins to do this) and then went through the same procedure as for my NDX2- delete all previously stored stations and re-select. I think the key point here is that if you are not able to download the latest firmware (3.10.1) to your device then you won’t get any internet radio and will have to try one of the ‘workarounds’ listed elsewhere here. But if you can download the latest firmware, then please install it, delete all previous radio presets and favourites and download them again from the internet radio section of the app and you should be ok.
Good luck, I hope this helps you. Dave Spart.

I have to say, Richard, that I am beginning to lose patience with this, and confidence with Naim as a brand. Naim is a premium product and I expect it to work. If this can’t be resolved then I may change my legacy streamer for a streamer from another make.

Dave, sorry to hear that. Bear in mind that Naim are not alone here with this Vtuner outage. However, after what happened last Christmas, Naim undertook a program to develop their own Internet Radio service, which was the right thing to do so they would not be dependant upon another provider’s (lack of) service. It’s just unfortunate that this Vtuner outage has come just a bit before the Naim Internet Radio update is ready for the legacy streamers. We’ll see what Naim have to say on Monday.

Me too!

Could I connect aWiiM streamer to a mu so?

It has a digital input - so, yes.

Yes using an optical digital cable.

Hi how do I get the new system - I have the latest naim app but I can’t get any internet radio, Apple Music and bbc sounds off phone work fine on muso - am I missing something as these outages are getting very frustrating - cheers

You can’t on a Gen 1 Muso … yet! We have been assured it will be rolled out for Gen 1 Musos and QBs soon.

Roger

Ok cheers thank you for your reply - hope it comes out soon

I assume then it will work as just a speaker? It’s an early model and I am not very tech savvy. but I am missing all of my radio stations due to them disappearing and this seems like an option.

My Naim musi QB the same, zero stations in app, but on my muso by bentley i have got everything

I need both my Muso Qb 1s (I have two homes) to wake me up in the morning with Radio4 on the alarm function. Not sure computer/iPhone solution any good for that. Solution needed urgently!!!

What features are you thinking about? You would use the Wiim app to control the radio/play/pause on Wiim and then you use the Naim app to control volume.

I’ve not used Wiim nor Muso so not 100% sure. I use the streamer Lindemann Bridge II and NDS but a similar concept.

It sounds like you have the 2nd Gen Mu-So for Bentley which has the Newer generation streaming engine onboard. If so, as a temporary measure until the in-house Internet radio is ready for older legacy Naim equipment, you could use the Mu-So for Bentley to multi-room with the Mu-So Qb and send it internet radio.

Nova updated to 3.10.1 and old stations deleted bbc playing nice so far. Thanks for the tips. Maybe i just hadn’t noticed it before but seeing the bbc podacsts in the menu is very welcome
