Internet radio request

I’d like to see more stations showing metadata (eg. Artwork) when available. For example, the German network NDR 1 has track art which Lyrion can display easily, even using tunein.
More metadata, please, where possible

Hi @castalla

Can you give an example of a station that has limited metadata. From reviewing the NDR network they should all have extended metadata feeds. Example:

While reviewing this I’ve adjusted the metadata sync of this network so track starting vs metadata changing is more in sync.

Here’s how NDR1 plays via Tunein on Lyrion compared to Ndr1 via Naim

I see no metadata like you show for NDR… Using muso qb2, android app
Baffled

Hi @castalla

Have had a closer look at the XPeri metadata mappings and it looks like XPeri have an issue on 3 of the regional station for NDR 1:

Stations marked in light blue have live meta feeds, the ones in white do not.

As a test try some of the stations in the screenshot that are highlighted in light blue and see if the metadata shows,

Will get this reported into XPeri.

Also, it has to be noted that the stations own extended metadata feed is a different feed to xperi. On that Simple Minds example, XPeri showed the artist (just scroll down to see it), but they didn’t have album as that track was a CD single release. On NPR’s they used the album artwork of the 12inch single release - technically wrong as they played the shortened radio mix.

Here’s what I get with the light blue selection - no art meta

The different meta feeds also shows up in Lyrion between the TuneIn stream & the stream from ARD Videothek. Not so simple this metadata stuff :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi @castalla

In that screenshot do I see some artist metadata image just showing on the bottom of the screen?

if so can you check if its correct. It looks to me that in that example it had artist metadata, but not album image meta. The screen scrolls when there is more data to show, than space on the screen.

Yes - there is artist data but never any track artwork.

Hi @castalla

This seems to be an integration between NPR and XPeri. I’ve raised issue tickets to them as there a mix of issues here.

Summary, a rogue album name is sent, which is typically a compilation album which then causes xperi fail to resolve the album artwork, or show the compilation albums artwork.

Example:

On their website they get it right, however often they can be minutes out of skew on what they think is playing vs what is playing. However it can then correct itself and its then in sync gor a few tracks,

Will put some pressure on them to get it better.

Thanks for all your help. Hope it can be resolved.

Just wondering if there’s been any progress on this metadata issue with the German NDR stations?

Hi @castalla

The issues are now with XPeri, who in turn had to report various to the broadcaster as the issues are in their system.

We’ve agreed to do a catchup meeting at the end of the month.

Thanks for the update
