A very specific problem here. Updated to iOS 18 on my iPhone 12 recently and whilst the Naim app works, when I play Apple Music on the phone and try to stream via my iPhone to either my Muso or Atom, there is silence. Interestingly, my iPad is on iOS 17 and I can stream perfectly fine.
This makes me think it’s something to do with iOS 18. Anyone experiencing similar or any ideas?
iOS18 is bricking some Apple devices, they are releasing updates that have not been thoroughly tested, something very unusual for Apple. My son is running a Beta version or iOS18 on his iPad, I told him that he should never download a beta version from anywhere, not even Apple.
My iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 18 is airplaying fine to the nd5 xs2. The bricking issue is specific to m4 iPads and it’s nothing to do with AirPlay. iOS 18 has from what I’ve seen outside of aforementioned iPad issues been a relatively stable release.
Yes and also reset the network. I wonder if I unknowingly changed something in settings which has caused this but for the life of me can’t think of anything. Am open to any other ideas
Just tested: my work iPhone 12 on iOS18.0 works fine with AirPlay 1/2 towards and old Pioneer system (1), and my Nova / MacBook (2) as targets. From Music app (though not Apple Music content; content I bought years ago from Apple, so the streaming is similar), and e.g. from Safari running some YouTube video.
I briefly checked the settings, but nothing obvious. Unless you’ve changed something in your “Home” settings (if the devices are added to the Home app). Since the Naim app finds the devices, it does not seem to be something obvious like “wrong network”.
(E.g. Naim app needs permissions to access network, or similar trap-falls.)
When you state “no sound” - to the Atom/Muso show AirPlay as active input, and there is just no sound?
Or does the phone fail to connect from the start`
Hi thanks for that. When I connect to the Muso, it shows "Airplay,’ but no sound.
However, the plot thickens!
Firstly, I can stream on my Atom.
Second thing is weird ( to me, anyway). I have a Samsung tv in my room and can stream to it from my tv. Now, whilst I am streaming to the tv, I can successfully stream to the Muso and stop the tv stream. However, once on the Muso, I cannot skip or change the music, if I do so, it’ll disconnect.
Any ideas what’s going on? I’m tempted to do a factory reset of the Muso but wonder if its something to do with the iPhone bluetooth.
Yep, I have exactly the same problem.
Updated to ios18, mu-so connects via airplay, phone shows track playing but no sound comes from the mu-so.
Meanwhile airplay works fine with other speakers (Libratone etc.)
Feels like we need a firmware update?
