Can anybody shed some light on a problem I have with a Cocktail Audio streamer and my iPad/iPhone.
Every so often I turn on my system and the iPad I use does not connect to the streamer. I reboot my WiFi and the connection is made as it should be.
What is the problem? I would be really grateful if sombody can give me an idea what is going wrong.
Yep, sounds like an issue with your wifi closing multicast groups down in appropriately… perhaps not responding appropriately to the network IGMP messages.
You might need to delve into your wifi settings and ensure setting like IGMP snooping is enabled, and / or multicast optimisation settings are toggled.
If you see a setting such as ‘broadcast and multicast control’ or similar, try disabling it.
Do you have wireless printers and other IoT devices that can easily be discovered on your network, or do these sometimes disappear as well after a period of time ? If so could be a similar issue with your wifi.
I can recommend BT or Ubiquiti wifi.. I know there are many others suitable for homes, but those two I am personally familiar with for home use, are well engineered and work generally well to specifications and I know they work with IoT, multicast and SSDP discovery (and Naim) … some of the key building blocks with home hifi network audio.
Thanks. I am in Italy, but I am sure it works in much the same way.
Yes, in Italy I doubt you will have access to BT products.. but everything else is the same where ever you are on the planet
