EDIT.
Think I did not really manage to explain myself in below post
I like the QB and will probably add one to the system for the dining room where I have the space both to accommodate it physically and the space to give it a decent airing on occasions.
However I was saying that for me the QB offers more than I want, or need in terms of SQ and takes up too much space in my kitchen where I just want a bit or background music from my Uniti core library, and radio. Was asking if anyone else would be interested in a mini QB type device for such situations. On investigating and discussing with my dealer it seems that the Sonos Era 100 will do everything I need taking up very little space and also very cost effective. It will ‘talk to the Uniti core and stream internet radio and Qobuz. So job done. Cheers to all for your comments

Now settling down to enjoying my new Uniti Core / ND5 XS2 combination. I am considering adding a Muso QB for essentially background music in my dinning room.
However I would like to have a player in my kitchen to stream from my Uniticore, plus radio. Whilst the QB is relatively compact for a mini HiFi it would still take up too much space on the worktop. I’m just wondering how many others out there might have an interest in a half size QB. Any e even same height but Hlaf the footprint. SQ would not a big priority just a nice compact wireless music source . I feel such a product could find a home in numerous situations around the house / garden where a compact / discreet player could be placed. . If the NDX XS2 were able to connect to a player wirelessly, you could simply add any wireless active speaker , but it does not. Just trying to gauge interest in a half size and maybe half price version of the QB, or is it just me?
I’d recommend against anything on the actual worktop. Is it an older style small standing room only and countertop kitchen or a larger kitchen with a table and seating? I find that a Qb works and sounds best when on a flat wooden stool or some other small table so that there is no flat surface (counter, table etc.) in front or to the sides of it. I discovered a while back that a Qb on a table versus a Qb on some type of pedestal is a completely different thing.
If you are really space constrained, I’d probably go for a streaming soundbar instead like one of the Bose ones and mount it on the wall above the counter.
As I mentioned I’m not particularly bothered about sound quality in this location so siting for optimum SQ doesn’t come into it. Just that the size of the QB takes up too much space . A half size footprint would for me be ideal. Any non Naim streaming active speaker like the sound bar you mentioned won’t be able to play my Uniti Core rips /library as vast majority in wav file format. If I only wanted radio that’s easy to solve.
If optimum sound quality isn’t what you are looking for, you should be looking for a non-Naim device. Find a product designed with convenience in mind instead if that’s what you want.
The Core should be able to serve files to any non-Naim UPnP client. The Naim WAV metadata issue shouldn’t be a problem unless you move the files to a non-Naim server.
^ This. And much lower cost than a Qb too.
Ok so am I wrong in saying if I want to stream my Uniti core library ripped mainly in .wav format , I need a Naim player?… In the past when I was looking at my old HDX library using generic UPnP server on my Nas like Twonky it only ever found the flac file content.
It’s the non-Naim UPnP server that can be unable to read Naim WAV metadata. As long as you are using the Core as server it should be fine.
This was the same with the 1st gen. servers, but they offered the option to convert the WAV library to FLAC to avoid the issue. Unfortunately the Core doesn’t have this option.
Just double check the manual and you’ll be fine. It’s a very rare streamer that is locked to a specific server. I only know of one - of course I happened to buy it before checking. But 99 times out of 100, everything will stream from a Core.
I think the Qb is fine as is and sounds great!
