I would like to try some vibration isolation on the Fraim lite shelf that holds by Accuphase DP450 cd player 14 kgs.
It is one of those never know till you try situation as the subframe of the player is built to supposedly withstand earthquakes from cast iron.
I could change all three levels of Lite to Full but perhaps starting with just the cd shelf. The player will fit.
4x graphite Iso pucks or similar Stack Audio.
The new Stack Acoustic Auva platform seems to garner much praise but at £1400 would it be overkill.
I have a ISO ZaZen platform but sits under my cinema subwoofer to keep it out of the way.
Any thoughts?

Personally I wouldn’t try adding any other form of isolation to either a Fraim Lite or Fraim. The results will be completely unpredictable and just as likely to result in degradation as improvement. The way to go from Fraim Lite is to Full Fraim.

I use a TAOC platform underneath my CD5si, model SUB-50-C. It’s designed with a honeycomb core with lead to help control mechanical vibration. Japanese ingenuity.

I gave up on isolation devices years ago. No matter where I positioned then under the components, I found that every possible just sounded different so that I never quite knew what was correct. It drove me crazy. I have given up trying to tweak and my audio life is better for it.

I tried a torlyte shelf for years. Then, after a cleaning session I left it out; complete revelation…for the better! Likewise I tried the extra glass shelf, cups and balls idea on a tubular steel frame and medite board; big mistake; HUGE!

F-F Fraim/Fraim-lite is all the support you need, no more, no less, but, put the cd player on the top and away from any horrid power supplies especially if they feature toroidal transformers!

Has anyone have experience of using an avidhifi platform from The Little Audio Company?

While some users have reported bad experiences when trying different isolation methods with Naim kit on Fraim, I would be less concerned when using non Naim kit. I use AuvaEQ’s under both my DAC (Fraim level) & streamer (FraimLite level), boith pieces being non Naim & I prefer with the EQ’s (also use an HRS damping plate on my DAC).

I also have the EQ’s under my TT feet, this is on a FraimLite. Didn’t compare without on my current table but on my previous table it was a significant improvement when installed. Plan to add their platform in the future.

The only experiments I have done with the Fraim are…

1. Replacing the glass top shelf with a Corian one for the CDS2 head unit. Small but noticeable change. The Corian did not seem to make any improvement compared to glass for the non-CDS components.

2. Replacing glass shelves with the ultra dense resin ones from Sonority, some of which were multiple parallel ‘roller shelves’…this also involved replacing all the steel ‘ball and nutters’ with Sonority supplied ceramic ones.

The ‘triple roller’ top shelf looked a bit weird and did detract from the otherwise svelte cosmetics, but really boosted the CDS2 player. The NAT-01 also gained a surprising improvement on a thinner two-platform roller shelf.

But I think the Sonority shelves cost about as much as the Fraim itself-so not a cheap option. But certainly very effective. I don’t know if Sonority even exists anymore though.

Thank you for all the input.
I will jump off the deep end and go for a

It is expensive but I am impressed with the reviews (Audiophileman on on YouTube) and if it’s not for me a full refund and collection is offered. We don’t often see that degree of trust in a product.

Wool Felt has some great absorption properties, I aways have some 3mm and 5mm felt discs around and simply A-B under a unit, they virtually always sound better under CD feet cost virtually nothing and you can A-B very easily. Not so keen under power amplifiers, but can work under preamps. I prefer them to a number of expensive alternatives
