It was all going so well......help please

I am using a ND5 XS2 as a transport to my NDS with a DC1 cable, which has worked flawlessly until this afternoon, when I decided to do a factory reset. Stupid me.

Subsequently it worked intermittently and now not at all. The NDS says ‘no signal’.

The single problem is the lack of signal between the ND5XS2 BNC digital output to the NDS BNC digital input.

I have done the following:
Checked the BNC cable is connected correctly (I had not touched it but have to rule it out!)
Checked the output of the ND5 XS2 is Digital BNC Native
Ensure that the input on the NDS is set correctly and rotated through them all just in case
Restarted the router. I can see the NDS and ND5 XS2 clearly on the network with their own IP addresses
Tested the NDS which works fine from the NAS and one of the digital inputs which I have connected to my Mini Mac.
Tested a different cable to the DC1
Using the Naim app I can use the ND5 XS2 for multiroom play which works as normal with all 3 musos.
If I use Roon Ready for multi room I can see the stream originating from the ND5 XS2 which is then sent to the Musos as one would expect.
So the single problem is the lack of signal between the ND5XS2 BNC digital output to the NDS BNC digital input.

Any ideas; hopefully I am being mind bogglingly dumb and missed something.

In the meantime I am tearing my hair out and deeply regretting messing with what was a perfectly functioning set up.

Thanks in advance
David

I would try to connect your ND5 xs2 connected to your preamp and get that going. Next try the out put settings on the ND5 XS2. I guess it is not sending the output to the DC1 cable

Check the output settings has digital output switched on; factory reset would set it to the default “off”.

Thanks yes I did that so unfortunately that is not the problem

Thanks for the suggestion. It works fine connecting it directly to the pre amp so definitely just the digital output that is the problem

Output on but volume set to 0??

Or the BNC digital input.

@Dan_M , he recently tried Nd5xs2 into Nds. Maybe can help.

It looks like you have tried most of the obvious things in your troubleshooting.

I’d power off both NDS and ND5XS2 completely (unplug ND5XS2 from mains) leave for 5 mins or so and then power them up again and see if that resolves things.

I don’t think you said which one you reset, ND5XS2 or NDS (or both)?
If ND5XS2 is there a setting to enable digital out? Normal use would not send that way and might be disabled by default.
If NDS then is the correct digital input enabled if there is a choice?

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

The mystery is now solved. It is the DC1 cable that I have had for 2 months and took 8 weeks to deliver! But that is better than the alternatives. I thought I had ruled that out but must have not switched the inputs on the NDS, too many parameters! I found a BNC adaptor so was able to test a RCA cable which worked immediately.

One of those days, about 4 hours and I still have not solved my original challenge which was to get a connection between my MiniMac and ND5 XS2, it works fine with the NDS but for some reason fades in and out with the ND5.

Oh well the joys of 7 boxes!

Thank you again for the suggestions

I am planning for another 2, so I will never reach your dizzy heights! In my defence I am only streaming
