I saw that the Jazz FM Awards 2025 nominees have been announced.

As always with these sort of awards, some obvious choices, some baffling choices and some personal favourites missing, but the nominees are all seem to be pretty mainstream and easy to listen to acts and albums. Nothing too challenging is included in the list. I have a couple of albums by the nominees, and some, I had to check out on the WWW.

I guess the Ezra Collective deserve to be up there amongst the winners, for getting Jazz out to a much wider audience.

My two favourite British Jazz albums of 2024 are missing. Rising by Jasmine Myra and Gratitude by the Seed Ensemble ( Cassie Kinoshi) did not make the list. Unsurprisingly, one of my top favourite international favourites “God Bless iKapa. God Bless Mzantsi”. by Thembi Dunjana is missing too.
