This Sam Jones album is wonderful; just a bass and a chello

Three from Mex. Duke’s band nickname for him.

Nice boogie back beat. Few Ellington mates aboard.

Standard blowing session. Paul is on the right.

Always open to new adventures. This a different Paul and he often sounds unrecognisable.
All solos contain bits of the Newport Dim and Cresc crowd pleaser.
Good Impulse sound and on Qobuz. Try and block out those bloody drumming rim shots.

Try this one if you are taken with Paul Desmond/ Jim Hall quartets.
Not an imitation. No one could conjure up the dry martini/ Audrey Hepburn/ urbane style of the master.
Hal was quite a player in New York during the 50/60s. I suppose the idolatory nature of BlueNote regard has turned the popular ( note audience response,if it is real) into the alternative.

The Cory Weeds Album is really a nice straight-ahead recording with plenty of fun.
I too was thankful for the big algorithm in the cloud… super fun and swinging.
