Enjoying this right now.
Brightlight by Avishai Cohen and his trio + others.
Lots of energetic drums and catchy rhythmic stuff. Some reimagined standards also on album.
Cheers

Had a search through this thread and other Jazz music threads on other Forums, including the Roon Community Forum and added over 50 albums to my Favourites on Qobuz.
Started listening to them and commenced with;
Will take a while but that’s the nice thing about being semi-retired. Now when I say semi, I do a bit of consultancy and work about three days a month.
DG…
Good reminder. Playing it now.
Got my copy today.
Wonderful music, as always, from Charlie Parker, almost all of it new to me.
For anyone interested in Parker, I find this a very useful site.
I buy quite a few jazz cds. But sometimes you purchase a dummy.
Harry,Harry I know you have to earn a living and this is obviouslyproduced and marketed at the Japanese dinner party market.
It should have been so very good with those musicians.
Ah well only £2.00 from the Magpie.
Although earlier this week it looked like a very long wait (release date highlighted by me):
today the album (vol. 8 in the bootleg series) is available:
What’s the issue for you? Tommy Flanagan is always worth hearing.
I’ve just tried a favourite tune - Midnight Sun - and liked it a lot.
I will try it again in a few days and see if I can warm to it. It just came across as mood music, don’t frighten the listener.Perhaps the choice of some tunes?
Harry is a firm favourite of mine. That wonderful ‘London Date ‘on Clydert’s Trio Label, ‘Cocktails for Two’with Joe Temperley or the Quartets with Joe Cohn. ‘Barnstorming ‘with Alan Barnes They all fizz with live.
As I used to say to a boss ‘I can’t work magic 24 hours a day’ so I will give Harry a pass this time.
Mine is due to arrive tomorrow courtesy of the Italian branch of the Bezos empire. £23 including delivery !
Seems too good to be true…
Sad news to hear that after a very long and illustrious life and career, alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson has just passed. RIP.
New single from Paolo Fresu. Hard to escape the influence of Miles when playing Time After Time but still an enjoyable take.
Having just lost Benny Golson, Quincy Jones and Lou Donaldson, drummer Roy Haynes has left us at the age of 99. What a career - played with Lester Young, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and in latter years with Pat Metheny and Dave Holland. Irreplaceable - RIP.
He was in his 80s the last time I saw him - looking sharp and playing excellently.
