Outer Spaceways Incorporated - Kronos Quartet and Friends Meet Sun Ra, from June 2024 (on Qobuz)

One in a series of themed Sun Ra albums by the Red Hot Organization - this is the best one I think. The Moondog themed album involving Kronos Quartet is excellent too.

Whilst clearing my files - came across this programme for a historic concert from 2005, virtually 20 years ago, broadcast on BBC4.

Not mentioned above (or broadcast) was Matthew Bourne’s fantastic performance of Mike Taylor’s ‘Abena’.

Gilles Peterson! That was a great radio show. Very different, very interesting.

He still broadcasts on Saturday afternoon on Radio 6

Thank you. That had totally dropped off my radar.

And is available usually on catch up through the excellent BBC Sounds app.!

Yes, that is how I listen. I usually play his show divided into several parts during the week.

Haven’t listened to this CD in years. Such a good recording. I saw these geezers live when they toured this album. A wonderful open air concert.
