Arboresque, by Artemis.
Artemis are an all female jazz band on Blue Note. This album is rather good
Well dressed as ever.
John Lewis was apparently Pres’ favourite pianist of that period.
His wonderfully sparse piano allows Lester to shine.
Although OP tried with one hand tied behind his back I still think he was too much for the old fellah.
A decent dual. Spike had just resumed playing after leaving his job as an electrical engineer… left hand channel
Al had started his professional career whilst still in nappies. …his woody tone became unique…right.
1987 recording by RVG and he still hadn’t really got the hang of always recording pianos properly.
Only one run for me too, but il looks really interesting!
@PDP67 excellent choice, thanks for bringing it. Played it twice yesterday, great album!
Cool. I guess you like the version of Footprints? (I am assuming your avatar is a certain saxophonist…)
Indeed yes and yes
Jazz in Silhouette, Sun Ra
Real shame it’s not being released on vinyl.
Good recommendation, thanks
Thanks from me, as well.
Bone Bells by Sylvie Courvoisier and Mary Halvorson
Some of the best albums that I have enjoyed of late have been made by women. Jasmine Myra, Cassie Kinoshi, Thembi Dunjana,Lakecia Benjamin and Nala Sinephro come to mind.
Chelsea Carmichael, Yazz Ahmed, Amanda Whiting, Ellen Reid, Marysia Osu, Thandi Ntuli, Linda Sikhakhane have all been on my stereo in the past week or so.
Thandi Ntuli, looks like an interesting musician that is new to me.
