An old favourite, not played for years. As ever, with Chesky, you need to turn it up.

Just purchased this Mosaic collection from eBay on the make me an offer basis.
I put it here because the whole box is available on Qobuz but my Auralic streamer can’t match cds and Accuphase.

One of my favourite Jazz pianists of all time especially his work with Danish label Steeplechase in the 80’s.

Lots of new music today. I have had a good listen to two of the four albums I bought today.

First of Steve Dyer with Multi Polar. Superb South African Jazz. I love the tone of the pianists on SA scene the and the general rhythms with their Jazz. It is a Download from Bandcamp.

A Saturday trip to my local record shop bagged me 3 more albums. Mino Cinelu & Nils Petter Molvaer’s “SulaMadiana”, is a wonderfully mediative album, with >Molvear on top form. It is incredibly well recorded. The percussion is a real joy played through my Heddphone 2 GT cans, with AMT diaphragms.

Part 2 Tomorrow evening.

Jazz Now by Blue Note Records

A compilation of recent - ish releases.

Some familiar, some not - lots of good stuff - well worth a delve. It’s on Tidal/Spotify/Apple/YouTube.

Four By Four: An Homage to the MJQ by the Vintage Jazz Quartet

This is a recording by David Chesky’s Audiophile Society - the website says:

Perhaps the Best Recording of Vibes ever made! captured in 192kHz 24bit sound using all ribbon microphones and tube microphone preamps.

I’m listening via Qobuz where the resolution is only 24/48 but it still sounds very nice. Not cutting edge stuff but if you like the MJQ it’s definitely worth a listen

Thanks for the suggestion. I really like an album called Jan Allan-70 by another famous Swedish jazzer which includes a track called Rolf Billberg in Memoriam

Had a relaxing couple of hours listening to the other two albums I purchased.

The Cosmic Tones Research Trio is pretty laid back, and interesting. At the limits of Jazz, but an easy listen.

Tingvall Trio with Beat is a very European piano trio Reminds me in a good way of Early EST and
Tord Gustavsen. Nice and lively unlike some Euro piano trios that send me to sleep.
