If you are in for very smooth jazz like me, try these …… very relaxing and “airy”. Top level recordings as well. The “Conversation” album was just released

Hi @Sailor thanks for recommending the Ruben Fox album. This artists is new to me. Tried the album; very nice! Iver
About as far removed from smooth jazz or ECM sound as is possible. Many won’t go here, I love it.
50th Birthday Celebration Volume 2 is a live album of improvised music by Milford Graves and John Zorn documenting their performance at Tonic in September 2003 as part of Zorn’s month-long 50th Birthday Celebration concert series.
I came across this CD in my local record shop. It is a Soundboard, and the audio quality is not too good, with some bad gremlins on the last track. Metheny McBride and Sanchez play brilliantly though. Recorded in 2004 at the Estival Jazz festival in Switzerland.
I wish there were more Metheny live albums out there as he is a musician who comes into his own live.
One for Metheny fans.
As usual, it pays to follow your advice.

He was very lucky to have paired up with Ray Brown who seemed able, like NHOP, to nail down his extravagance. A Norman Granz pairing I suppose.Major Holley was the previous incumbent of the bass position.
I remember how we all marvelled at the trio version of Tenderly with Barney Kessel, probably on a 78rpm. The start of a wonderful journey.
I’ve been listening to Metheny’s latest album. Personally I find it very interesting, a departure from Moondial and Dreambox for sure, the mood is totally different, but it got closer to his older works I think.
So far I find Side-Eye III+ pretty enjoyable. I didn’t have the chance to fully appreciate it, as you know it can take some time to digest every shade of an album, however I’m glad I bought it. Somehow it reminds me of The Way Up, maybe because it’s his first album I got in my collection.
In 2004, Gale came back to New York for a special concert with bassist William Parker and others on the scene. His tribute to John Coltrane is a heartfelt paean to the classic quartet.
dance! skip! hop! by the Tomeka Reid Quartet
This is a new release by a quartet led by a cellist. It’s excellent - complicated music, but swings too. I liked it so much I spent £50ish importing a vinyl copy from the US via bandcamp (note to self: must avoid ordering vinyl at 10 on a Friday night after a couple of glasses of vino…)
Thank you Roon algorithm: listening to some Jan Harbeck albums, I got this one suggested. New artists to me but an absolute jewel in my opinion !
@Richard good catch; I recognized them …. Nevertheless, I recommend the full “oevre” of Jan Harbeck. Very enjoyable to my opinion. Iver
Cape Town, South Africa-based drummer Asher Gamedze explores relationships of time between music and history on his new album Turbulence and Pulse,
