Just love Damn if I Know (The Stroller). Deep bass, impassioned sax, soulful harmonies. Wonderful. Archie Shepp at his best.
Got quite a few of these 1960’s recordings from Copenhagen, which I do enjoy
Dexter Gordon (ts)Bent Axen (p), Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen (b), William Schiopffe (d)
I have 8 or 9 Dexter Gordon SteepleChase releases on vinyl including the three Swiss Nights LPs but not heard this one I will definitely be checking it out.
Think I have around 22 including 3 x Swiss Nights LPs - you seem to be pretty good at foraging, so good luck !
Excellent LP the title track was written about an Acid Trip Art took with some Hippies he met straight after being released from jail.
He’d been imprisoned fora few years and the Hippy LSD thing in San Francisco was all new to him I dont think it was an experience he rushed to repeat.
Following on from the main thread where the birthday, today, of Charlie Mingus is noted.
This is from a Tidal playlist.
A fine Stanley Turrentine varying from big band sound to mellow bossa-type of tunes. I particularly like the classic ,Here‘s that Rainy Day‘. I like his straight saxophone play free of schmaltzy vibrato.
Two musicians who knew each others playing inside out.
Ken plays tenor on some racks. Howard uses a seventh string to give a little bass push.
Nice collection of tunes.
Spotify for me.
Sunny afternoon, so windows and doors open with some fine jazz music. I ended up with these today. All of them recommended. I start liking Hans Backenroth more and more

Japan has produced some of the very best jazz drummers in the world and Akira Ishikawa was one who played across soundtracks, afro, fusion, Latin, funk and much more. Electrum was recorded in 1970 and is a key album in the famed and much sought-after Victor Japan Jazz Series.
