Jazz Music Thread

I have added three new albums to the CD cupboard.

Immanuel Wilkins Quartet: Live at the Village Vanguard Vol. 1 is well worth a listen. The long tracks do not overstay their welcome. Very soulful, and listenable.

Our Community will not be Erased, by Jeremy Pelt, is pretty straightforward enjoyable jazz. I love this guys playing.

TWIO Vol. 2 by Walter Smith III is a bit more challenging, but there is some great music on this album.

When I first heard this a few years ago I didn’t really give it a chance, maybe wasn’t in the mood for it. So glad I gave it another listen tonight, its an absolute gem!

I don’t know if you know this one, but it’s a great album and the sound quality is top notch.

It is and I haven’t played it in years. Bought the LP on first release. Thanks for the reminder.

The Mosaic box I reach for when I am sleepless wandering. Beautiful and respectful club ambiance. There is a Mosaic box with all the Paul and Jim Hall records.
Ed Bickert is the guitarist.
It was part of his contract with Brubeck that he was not allowed to make quartet recordings involving another pianist.

This fine recording slipped under the contractual wire.

Let’s not forget the old timers and teachers.

A wonderful box set.

I went and checked. It isn’t dust on top of the skirting board, Just shadows. Phew.

Thanks for the recc @Blacknote but it doesn’t seem to be available on Tidal

That’s strange, what a pity. If you have Qobuz, you can easily find it there. Or stream it from YT despite not being the best quality.

Hey @Sailor thnaks for the Stanley Turrentine recommendation. What a very, very fine album. Love the “smooth jazz” atmosphere

I just started listening to Naim Radio. Damn their Jazz station sounds amazing. I think it sounds just as good maybe better than Qobuz

A very interesting album: Gabrielle Cavassa first appeared on Jushua Redman‘s album ,where are we‘. Now she published her first album, still featuring Joshua Redman as an artist and producer.

A poetic album by Giovanni Mirabassi. In some tracks he reminds me of Keith Jarrett. Hard to believe that he is a self-taught pianist. Very enjoyable album. Available on Qobuz.
