Apparently this 4LP Michael Garrick box will be coming out on Fontana in November. Amazingly, looks like there will also be a vol 2 !

‘When it rains it pours etc etc’.

Dug out one of my favourite albums ever this evening. The Woman Next Door, by Rita Marcotulli on Label Bleu, from 1998 and long deleted, is a delicious listening experience. A very French tribute to François Truffaut. Marcotulli is not well known outside of Italy, but I am looking forward to her new album on ECM , ‘Salt Catchers’ with Andy Sheppard and Michel Benita

Hope to pick up my copy on CD Saturday.

Is the Woman Next Door on your streaming site?

Of course. And I’m a little ashamed to admit that as an Italian I didn’t know Rita Marcotulli: it was an excellent discovery, thank you for your post. :+1:

I will be going to see her with the ‘Salt Catchers’ Trio plus Evan Parker in November. A new artist to me.

Salt Catchers’ with Andy Sheppard, Rita Marcotulli and Michel Benita, arrived today. Typical ECM European Jazz production values, with some wonderfully relaxing playing. Sheppard’s sound is so unmistakable. I have become a bit choosy with ECM stuff of late, as it can easily cross the line into boring, but this one kept me engaged.

Must be 20 years or more since I saw the pair at Snape Maltings.
Probably promoting this album.

I had a look at Andy’s FaceBook page. He now has the appearance of an oriental sage.

An album to find and listen to if I can find it.

If you haven’t done so already, check out his albums with the Espen Eriksen Trio.

The trio has a new album scheduled for release next Friday 25 September.

Yes, they have made some splendid albums, especially with Andy Sheppard. This will be on my buy list.

I am already for a week discovering the music of Wynton Kelly. Playing one or two albums every evening. What a giant he is. This one is very nice:

I got steered towards Wynton Kelly by reading an article of a very special audiophile journalist about building his Jazz library. The article is here and concises of three pieces. Very much worth a read

Hi @IvdZ

I have this great CD → I took note that Wynton appeared on several classic jazz recordings so was inspired to get this.

Genius Bass player I’ve got 246 albums with him as leader or band member. He died aged 33.
