Kef LSX II LT

Thinking of purchasing a pair for use in an home office system, has anyone any experience of using them.

Gary

Hi,
I have the LSX version 1 in my diner open room.
I would expect the sound to be very close to each other.

I’m using it for casual music listening, not for hi-fi sound quality sessions, and it’s doing a good job.
Even though if I’m not helping them in my open space and not so good positioning, it’s plenty good enough.

Spotify Connect works really well most of the time. For Tidal and Quobuz I can Airplay to the LSX but I mostly use Spotify on those. The family likes how it’s easy to stream with it. So they play a lot during a week.

Last year we ended up doing a New Year Eve party with friends and teenagers and they supported the party sound level well enough. Nobody lost his hat, but they did kick hard enough to spontaneously transform the place in a dance floor.

So they do well what I was expecting from them. But I won’t lie that since I so often listen music while cooking and eating, I’m thinking to bring something with better SQ, maybe bringing up my old Qute and bookshelf speakers. But this means wire everywhere.

So depends what you look for, but it’s a good product.

Hi and thank you for a great summing up.

In the New year, I will be working from home for about 95% of my work time, and will be setting up a small home office, to try and keep work and home life separate, I could use use headphones, but don’t want to totally cut myself off from the rest of the family, It will be, like yourself casual music listening, I’m not expecting gut wrenching bass, so should be good enough.

The fact you can stream / use Airplay is the main reason for wanting to use the Kef’s, I don’t want to set up a second music system, just use a laptop and being able to control from my phone, is the icing on the cake.

I understand exactly your dilemma regarding wires everywhere, hence my leaning for the Kef’s, which look great in your room by the way.

Many Thanks,

Gary

@cmax, We’ve also got the original LSX’s in our study and we’re very pleased with them.

We have them wall mounted on the KEF stands.

I usually use them with Roon and they work very well.

Not the LT’s but I have the original LSX’s as well in the living room (used for background music). The biggest downfall of these would be the wireless connection, as I experienced all sorts of connection issues, switching to wired solved these issues but as far as I know this only applies to the original version & V2 have solved the wireless issues (& believe they use a better app as well). Sound is great for their size, I pair mine with a small sealed Totem Acoustics sub. For a simple/discrete setup, they work very well & sound quite good at their price point.

Hi @Dipper, Thank you for your reply, its good to hear that you’re pleased with them, I intended using them on the KEF desk stands, for casual listening.

Many Thanks,

Gary

Hi @daren_p, Your point about the wireless connection is a good one, and for where I would be using them (desktop) a wired connection would not be a problem, fair point about the sub too, if I later switched them to another room, feedback from yourself, @Dipper & @MROX is telling me I need to order a pair, so thats my next job.

Many Thanks,

Gary

My non audiophile sister just got the LSX 2 as her first speakers for music and TV listening and was super happy with them. I mentioned adding a sub so she added a KEF Cube 10 to the mix and it was a wow moment for her. As for myself, I just ordered a pair of the LT’s in stone white and will be using them on my desk with an iMac. Can’t use a sub since I’m in an apartment but looking forward to playing around with them. Will be my fourth system in a 2 bedroom apartment lol.

Snap!, I want to use mine with a a MacBook, Sub would be overkill at the moment, but it’s good to hear your Sister enjoys her system and the improvement the Sub brings.

Just ordered the LT’s in the same colour.

Of course, I want to get Xmas out of the way first, and wind down my work office stuff and clear out the junk you accumulate, then make a start probably 2nd week of January, setting up my home office, so they will probably, no make that a definite, be tried out in the lounge first  I’m not expecting them to outperform my present system, but that’s not what they were purchased for.
