The Sleeping Forecast on BBC Sounds. A mixture of classical/gentle/ambient music with superimposed excerpts from the Shipping Forecast read out over the music. Lots of episodes and incredibly effective!
On the other hand sometimes its just nice to get so drawn into some music that boring things like sleep take second place!
We have a CD of the sounds of the sea that we play in the bedroom to fall asleep to. Played most week nights for 20+ years, so our most played CD by a very long way. Before that we trend to listen to something spoken on BBC Sounds, so nothing with a beat or melody to latch onto.
Thanks much appreciated ![]()
Thanks

Both Sara and Hannah are constant companions at my bedside.
BBC radio 3 with a soothing and surprising collection of music.
Tibetan throat yodel to obscure Haydn via John Coltrane.
Thanks, much appreciated
. Will give a listen tonight.

Lute and classical guitar for me as well. I also have a few solo harp albums.
These days I am less likely to use music as a sleep aid as compared with 20 years ago,
Calm electronica, train and other environmental noises, and a bit of King Creosote’s voice in the background (from their magical Diamond Mine collaboration).

Thanks for that
I will try it later.
Having sailed dinghies, yachts and on square rigged sailing ships, when I was physically able, I too love the rhythm of it. Thanks for reminding me of its comfort.![]()

I have an App ‘Portal’ which has three libraries of ambient sounds: Focus, Escape and Sleep. My favourite in sleep is Botallack Mines in Cornwall which has deep wave sounds resounding. I listen with headphones.
