Stunning album!
Sure, you can like both if you want, nothing wrong with that, but I wanted to hear if anyone preferred one band over the other. Just for fun. Judging by the answers given so far, Led Zeppelin leads the raceā¦![]()
However thatās not what you asked!
For me it depends on mood, and I would never want to be unable to hear either again. And where I like PF all through except Endless river, though some albums more than others, LZ, though phenomenal at first, deteriorated for me with Houses of the holy the last I bought.
Iāve got all the Led Zeppelin albums and yes they did go downhill. But I like most of them still. Albums 1, 2 and 3 are amazing. I do like Physical Graffiti, and some of there other stuff but those first three. WOW!
And I have all Pink Floyd albums and same applies.
I donāt like early Pink Floyd, too weird for me. But DSOTM, Animals and Wish you were here are favourites. I like Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason.
So between the two best albums are:
Led Zepp 1, 2 and 3.
Pink Floyd DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals.
Those 6 I would take to desert island.
You can stream this when youāre in Zeppelin mood Dan and see what you think. Some like it, some donāt ![]()
I like both and canāt see any reason why Iād feel the need to pick a favourite. To me both are produced for different situations (something others have mentioned).
Mineās a pint, please. There are some tedious idiots over there trading inanities and creating false dichotomies about their favourite bands. Iād rather sit here and ignore them.
Right you are, mate. Thatāll be Ā£5.35, please.
There you go. Now, what shall I put on the jukebox? The whole of DSOTM or Mothership? Either way, itāll wind up at least 50% of them.

You donāt have to pick Pete, of course, but whoever wants to can, which is the point ![]()
If I was forced itād have to say PF, just based on the amount of plays. It is a rather strange duo to choose from though, I almost find them different ends of the scale.
You say that, and they are different. But they are my two favourite bands. And they are often mentioned in the same breath. Someone asks you, what music do you like?
Erm, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, ACDC, Queen, Muse, Depeche Mode, New Order, Black Sabbath and so onā¦
I canāt say which I like more between PF and LZ.
Maybe I like Billy Idol more ![]()
Yes, another way of phrasing the question is if youāre a Zeppelin guy or a Pink Floyd guy, it works just as well if you want that instead Pete ![]()
I think people who like Led Zeppelin like Pink Floyd too.
Itās more often are you Beatles or Rolling Stones person.
For me Rolling Stones.
Girl as well as guy my friend !
Iām a music guy and love (and hate) all kind of music, thereās some I like more than others but itās all about how it moves you (or me)
Iām listening via headphones/iphone for a while and I am noticing things that grab me at home donāt necessarily do it with headphones.
Iām more likely to listen to PF under these conditions than LZ.
Iām pretty sure Pete is a guy Dan ![]()
To my mind LZ will always be the ultimate rock and roll group of the flared trouser flapper years ( 1970s ) totally condensed and pickled within said decade, whilst PF the onwardly evolving eclectic prog rock band who maynāt have the impact of basic bodily urges of LZ but do have far more to express in bandwidth of musical intellectualism ![]()
Iām not as sure about that as you are Dan
Weāll see.
Youāre probably right. ![]()
