Limetree Bridge 2 - NDS Upgrade

Longer time ago I have tried to bypass the streaming section of my 172 preamp with auralic mini…same results. Maybe the recent firmware discussions are representing the principle problem: manipulating the transport (hardware/software) is not that easy if what to keep the exact same sound signiture as before.
Saying that, I don’t lose the signiture sound when I am streaming via upnp, which means not to bypass the transport.
Hopefully the solution is a proper digital cable. I am looking forward to the next experience reports.

I use an Innuos server and the sense app - all works brilliantly with my NDS

Can you get 24bit streams like Tidal Max if you don’t bypass the NDS transport?

As far as I know the max rate via digital input and upnp is the same: 24-bit/192kHz

PRaT is a very difficult property and differs along setups and ears. Variables are massive. It took me a while tweaking things with my new Primare NP5 mkII (bridge) before things were fine. Cables, connections, sockets. Yes, maybe a slight less PRaT, but more definition and depth. But now with highres files and no dropouts anymore. It still feels organic, not really digital. Matter of taste and choice.

Good luck Michi!

An external LPS makes it more organic and analogue sounding. I preferred Sbooster over Farad3 on my Bridge. Synergy. Not always easy to find and very system and taste dependent.

I’ll second that. Best of both worlds for me: hi-res streaming & lossless radio while keeping the Naim signature sound intact.

Added benefit is my Innuos Zen 3 now powers my EE8 switch (rather well) via spare USB out, so no extra LPS required.

Sorry - have to ask you guys again - should look in the other thread.
Is you zen/zenith connected:

  • lan port to switch and streamer port to nds
    Or
  • lan port to switch and nds direct to switch

The latter is not working in my setup😏

How is the Innuous connected up please?

Innuos is basically an optimised computer like Roon Nucleus?

Check the manual

I know the manual - but at some here it worked even when as server only.

Direct connection - nd555/nds to PN sounds better.
But with zenith in between i can stream via sense once qobuz

Just started a trial on Audirvana over UPnP to my NDS vs Bridge II via BNC in. Took 5 seconds to hear the Bridge II was better in my setup. And Audirvana is still WAY behind Roon in UI/UX.

My setup: Router > EE8 switch > Zen 3 (LAN port) / Zen 3 (Streamer port) > NDS (Ethernet)

What about getting an ND5 XS2, either new or used, to feed the NDS. System Automation allows excellent control of everything and you would def have that Naimness you seek.
Just a thot.

System automation works as long as NDS has a connection to your internet. No need for ND5XS2. You also pay a lot for an unused DAC doing so.

About to purchase a limetree how easy is it to connect and can you connect it to the nas as well?

Assuming The Bridge 2 from your profile.

Set up is very easy and the manual is available to download from the Lindemann site. Just make sure that the Lindemann app has access to your network in settings. Wired is as it is. There is a WPS recessed switch at the back if you want to go wireless (I’ve done both with no issues). It will see your NAS via uPnP under the Local Sources heading in the app assuming you are running a uPnP client (which you will be for the NDS).

Download the app and the manual to get ahead of the curve. Oh, and enjoy when it comes.
