Has anyone used Kan Mk1s desktop speakers. Will be using the with a Qute 2 and a beat up Klipsch SW350 sub woofer under the desk. Are the Kans too quirky? Otherwise I’ll use a set of South Australian made Krix Brix Mk1s which may be a little more forgiving.
Hop the brains trust have got some ideas.
Merry Xmas to all from Australia.
I haven’t used the as such but I have had a pair for years and reckon they would be great!
I have had UnitiQute 2 with Kan mk1 and it works.
I have never got the very fast Linn Kan with superb timing ,to work well with a Subwoofer,
I did, in effect, do this in the early 80s with my LP12 42/110 and Kans when I was living in a small room for several months whilst doing a post-registration specialist training. The only space for the speakers was on the desk, with the amps on a chest of drawers and the LP12 on a Lack table. Far from ideal, but despite this layout, the system sounded good.
I used a set briefly about a year ago and worked reasonably well. Sealed box and small. I was using a small “100 watt” class d amp and was uninspiring. I swapped to a Croft integrated at 40 watts and they sounded much better. As good as they were for a non critical (for me) listening space I much preferred an original pair of Warfdale Diamonds that were able to provide more engaging and fun sound at low volumes. Kans were very happy to be back in open space against a wall with a Nait powering them.
The Kan might be a little too in-your-face for nearfield use.
