Thinking of comparing the two power supplies and wondered who has changed and what to expect. Is it a worthwhile upgrade.

Very worthwhile. There is so much more life in the music with the Rad 2.

Yes, worthwhile, but itāll cost you! Very happy with the mk1 and the fact that it was a relative bargain when the mk2 came out.
The cost was the factor really. Is it worth the increase even though I can sell my Rad 1.
Iām waiting for s/h Radikal Klimax. As for the R2, Peter had this to say in 2021:
the new /2 Radikal gives a far greater sense of musicality, a lower noise floor and consequently greater dynamic range. Everything just sounds even more realistic! It really is quite extraordinary how this upgrade has improved the sound!!

And of course we now have the latest Radikal version 3 which is meant to be better still, priced at Ā£11500.
I have Klimax Radikal 2 which I managed to buy new with a Urika I. For me it is good enough and I am not looking at going any further right now.
I would imagine this would push used prices down for the Radikal 1 and 2 iterations. There is also the option of the Utopik power supply upgrade for the version 2.

Doesnāt seem all that long ago that a complete top spec LP12 with Keel, Ekos SE, Akiva, etc. was a couple of grand cheaper than this new power supply alone

Hi
Iāve had what was klimax radikal 2 upgraded with the Utopik Miniline power supply.
It means the radikal going back to linn via the dealer and is well worth it.
I donāt know how long they might offer this upgrade as our
ā Machined Case ā
Is no longer listed for sale might save an enforced big cost upgrade.
Donāt miss a chance.

Incidentally all versions of Radikal are on dem and some pre upgraded Machined Case Radikals are available.

Canāt comment on the cost comparison (Dealer mods) but the Akiva was phased out about 14 years ago!!

This could also be a way forward for my LP12, but I havenāt been able to get around to visiting @Cymbiosis in a while, so Iāve quite few options stacked up to investigate the next time I visit Peter.
I hadnāt appreciated that there might be a finite period for factory Utopik Rad2 upgrades, so thatās something to take into consideration.
Iād be really interested to hear more on your impressions and the nature of improvements youāre hearing with the Utopik upgrade.

I find in use the Radikal now seems to settle its speed more quickly.
Light dims.
SQ wise itās a mixed bag bass is deeper treble is cleaner and music seems more stop start with reduced noise.
Overall itās a bit like cotton wool has been removed not that I thought it was before.
The Machined Radikal case known as ā Old Klimax ā is no longer available and with the unit having to be sent back to linn for modification might well be a limited offer.
@Cymbiosis has a selection of pre upgraded for sale or trade I believe.
Iād hate to miss out then the only Klimax option is the new big one.
Incidentally the interior running gear with the exception of the new case and twin rail power supplies the motherboard is the same as Radikal 2

I donāt envisage Glasgow would be stopping Utopik upgrades for the machined Radikal for quite some time due to the popularity of the upgrade with owners. So, I wouldnāt worry too much about availability at the moment but please be aware due to demand and just like with Naim, itās necessary to book in any servicing in advance of the date of return as in both cases, the manufacturer whether Salisbury or Glasgow will inform us/the returning dealeras to when they are able to accept the product for repair/upgrade.
However, itās fair to say that the Dynamik power supply upgrade for products like the solo and twin were discontinued after a period of time and so this could be the case I suppose with the Utopik for Radikal in the fullness of time. Iām so a bit like the withdrawal of the DR upgrades.

Thanks @Skeptikal. Interesting. I also donāt hear any cotton wool with the existing PS, but Iām well aware that itās only when you hear something better that you appreciate whatās possible.

Thanks Peter. Iām overdue at Rearsby, but 2026 has turned unfortunately āorangeā with consequences on my finances and my time (withe family living in Dubai). I hope to darken your doorstep in the next few months. At the very least I need a health check on my TKR and maybe a set up. Beyond that there are a few years of potential upgrades to audition. Better is always welcome.
Having said that, the current TT continues to amaze, entertain, delight and thrill!

Very true.
I did use the Urika before I got the Utopik Miniline but now using MM I have the cart straight into the amp now.
Quite a jump in price to new Klimax if already happy with previous investment.
Remember the main ancillaries and motherboard is the same as the new Klimax 3
But the new case and dual rail PS is the main upgrade.
I thought it was very generous of Linn to offer the upgrade for a now discontinued product considering previous loyalty for what was Klimax ā machined caseā.

Thanks for the detailed information. I am very happy with my current LP12 right now.
I will consider both upgrades in the future!
Incidentally, I have noted used Klimax Radikals for sale with the Utopik power supply already fitted.
