Hello to all, I’m excited to announce the purchase of my first LP-12. I’ve always wanted one at some stage in my HiFi journey and finally got the opportunity to own one.
It’s been upgraded from a Majik to Selekt I’m told. I’ve had a listen to a Selekt and was very impressed and how much better it sounded compared to my REGA P8
I’m collecting it in three weeks and can’t wait to get it playing records.
Congratulations! I will ask you the same question I ask everyone here–what will your LP-12 be sitting on? You can do some preliminary experiments with your Rega, if you haven’t already.
Congrats to you. Had one for over 35 years … progressively updated to roughly the Selekt level at this point, and all it does is put a smile on my face every day. There are turntables that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I have heard many of them at shows. I’ll stick with the Linn thank you.
congratulations to you. It might be worth considering finding a Linn Dealer (preferably one known for LP12) and have it serviced. I had mine for years and when it was serviced it was so much better
The Linn will be mounted on a, Solid Sounds wall shelf.
A comment regarding the cartridge. I’m sorry I’m not sure which one but the Linn has a Kendo and the REGA had an Apheta 3.
My setup is, Supernait 2 - Hi-Cap DR - (NDX2) REGA RS-5.
The purchase of the Linn is part of an ongoing project to build a better amp/ speaker system in the future, but my present setup is really good, even the old RS5’s to my ears. Source of course is always first.
I have a Rega Aria Phono preamp which is excellent but not sure if it’ll be okay with the Linn. Comment’s welcome on that one please?
As for a service for the Linn, it will be serviced (if needed) by a reputable dealer.
I’ll post updates and pictures of course when I can.
Once again thank you for your help and I do appreciate more advice etc
Yes! Interestingly, I would never bother with after market pimping of my cars, but the LP12 has been well and truly rebuilt, with Linn, Naim and Dynavector parts.
This Solid Sounds wall shelf (picture taken from their website) is where the Linn will be living soon. It’s already fitted to a wall in my lounge. I hope the Lingo fits ok underneath, and I’ll check of course. Just looking at that picture… Wow, can’t wait to play my latest LP purchases. The Beatles- Rubber Soul (deluxe) & The Who - Who’s Next (analogue productions)
Yes, both of these TTs will sound good.
They will also sound different, if compared.
All of our opinions are applicable to ourselves, let this principle always be taken into account.
Congratulations on joining the LP12 club, if you like yours half as much as I like mine then you’ll be in for many years of wonderful listening.
I see no reason why your Aria shouldn’t work very well with the LP12, I certainly wouldn’t change it initially, spend some time enjoying the music and then decide if you’re missing something before upgrading.
Your LP12 looks stunning. I’m sure that you will love it paired with the SN2 and Hi Cap. There’s just something about the look of the Linn Sondek that is timeless; form and function beautifully realised. Please post once you’re up and running.
