There are some older posts regarding this subject but all seem to be closed and not recent. I have a NOVA, MUSO 1 and NDX in service. I considered a Sonore type hardware solution for the MUSO and NDX before I got the NOVA in 2023 but didn’t pursue it. I posed the LMS software to Gemini AI and it seems viable and suggested to install on my QNAP TS-216G. I do use Roon mostly and built an i5 ASUS NUC the same time I installed a QNAP 216G in February this year. The QNAP is an overall file server but all my music in on the NUC SSD. What’s the latest regarding this type of approach pros and cons of those that have tried it recently. Thank you.
Hi @mackb3. I am very happy with a Raspberry Pi running RooUPnP. Very simple. Like you I have my Roon core on a NUC with internal SSD storage but also have music on a Synology NAS. Streams UPnP to my NDS without problems.

My music server gear is in the basement including my Roon ROCK NUC and rooExtend/rooUPnP RPi…
It looks like we have the same passive, aluminum RPi case 
As an official Roon Extension, it’s really nice that the rooUPnP settings are configurable within the Roon app itself.
My music files are on a nearby Synology DS720+.

In addition to running SonoreUPnP Bridge on an UltraRendu, to provide a UPnP feed from Roon to my NDS, I did install the LMS2UPNP package on a RPi I use for Asset UPnP server.
It gives a basic non-GUI fall back option if needed. It is a little more of a DIY option with some Linux skills needed to get the configuration file working,
If not for you, then yes the rooUPnP option looks to be effective, as a Roon extension.
This was launched after I had invested in the UltraRendu & SonoreUPnP Bridge.
And if you don’t want any coding, installing etc, there is pre-built RooExtend box available.
Thanks fellas. I’m learning as I go and the Pi seems the easiest plug and play option. Installing on the QNAP seems a little more work but no additional hardware/software. Anyone have experience with using the container doc’s on either QNAP or Synology? I think both achieve the same results however.
If using the Room UPnP bridge from DrCWO then I think that it started life as a patched version of the LMS UPnP Bridge and then has been developed further so I think that there is a good chance that the original and free UPnP Bridge for LMS would work.
