Morning Red_rooster I have played around with placement within the constraints of the room and swmbo positioning restrictions and your correct nothing has helped.
To be honest before the latest software update we weren’t a million miles away from the sound I ideally wanted and as you pointed out we have a considerable investment in kit, admittedly not all purchased new.
I think the PMC’s will probably go in the end , we had them when we ran a respectable av system and along with Bryston amplifiers the system was excellent but without spending even more money on black boxes to chase what we are after a speaker change maybe the best option, although saying that I would of loved to have tried a 252/Supercap combination but still think it may not give us what we would like.
Jonothan G describes the 20.26 perfectly earlier in the thread from his experience when he reviewed them so I think it’s pretty clear which is the best direction to take👍

I think your right. I had a similar problem to yours a while ago. On well recorded tracks my hifi was fine but on many others it made me want to turn it off. In my opinion spending loads of cash on a hifi which only allows you to listen to Carol Kidd and Dire Straits (am exaggerating) seems a bit crazy!
I read the comments on here and thought I could solve it by installing a dedicated mains, new cables, sticking egg cartons to the wall etc. In the end spoke to a few dealers listened to half a dozen speakers and bought the ones I liked.
I guess this is an easy problem to run into when you build a system through upgrading rather than putting it together in one go!

It can be a frustrating hobby and we are in the position of selecting tracks which are playable (maybe not that bad) but I’m sure you get my meaning.
I do put the system on then carry on doing my normal bits and pieces and it sounds fine in the kitchen .
Speaker demo’s help but ideally I would like to try something in my own system at home, hopefully that will be an option moving forward.
I have spoken to my closest dealer and he said to come in try a few options and if we can narrow it down to one he would be prepared to let me try them at home, which seems like a reasonable arrangement but sadly his selection is pretty limited but its a start.
Just noticed you use Proac speakers can I ask which model, thanks.

That’s what I did. Tried half a dozen or so speakers and then tried my two favourite models at home.
They are Proac DB1s. Not much mention of them on here but I liked them and they suit my room well. Proac are worth a listen but to be honest everyone’s room and ears are different so trying a few different brands to see what suits YOU is the only way forward. No point in relying on others opinion really, although can help with shortlisting.
Auditioned lots of different models at the time as I decided life was too short to be getting this frustrated with my hifi system!
Tried at the same time Totem, Russell K, Focal, Falcon Acoustics, Spendor, PMC, Neat all around the £2-3k mark at the time. Previously owned or tried at home ATC 19, Dynaudio Focus 110 and Kudos C10s.
If I remember correctly I visited Criterion and Rayleigh hifi. At the time the more local Naim focused dealers seemed to have quite a limited range. Neat, PMC and Kudos if I remember correctly.
If I couldn’t find any speakers that suited me after this was going to ditch the Naim gear and start again. Was considering Moon, Rega, Lavardin. Actually thought Bryston would be worth a go as well. Fortunately didn’t come to this.

That’s certainly a descent list of speakers that you tried, pretty much covers all the options I had in mind with a few additions.
I have a fancy to try the new Wharfedale Linton’s and also the newish Mission 770, not sure why, it could be a bit of nostalgia setting in.
I must admit as much as I enjoy my system especially on a good day lately the good days seem to be getting fewer, not the end of the world but can be very frustrating.
It will be interesting to see if anything comes of the patch members are talking about regarding the new software update, I can understand why a few members are not impressed, I’m annoyed I did it so soon usually I don’t bother checking for updates but this time jumped in straight away, bad idea, but will have wait and see if anything develops
