Looking to change again

I have a NSC222 streamer paired with a 2022 NAP 250DR seriously thinking of buying the 2024 NAP250 been reading that the new unit may have a few issues with heat build up anyone have any further information.

Thanks

Where did you read this ?

The NC250 and 350 should be fine if you follow recommended placement for sufficient ventilation - ie don’t place them in a closed, non-vented cabinet or block the fan outlet. If they do start to get too warm when working the amplifier hard, then a quiet variable speed fan will operate to help dissipate the heat.

Thanks James…where else but Facebook. I take everything posted on there with a pinch of salt. But there is no harm in asking the question me thinks.

Oh dear :joy:

I’ve had both the NC250 and now 350s, sat on Isoblue- they barely get warm and I’ve not managed to get the fans to come on yet. I’m obviously not trying hard enough !

The NC250 has an internal cooling fan so there shouldn’t be problems even if you play really loud. It has the big advantage of being able to sync with the 222 and go into standby to save power. The two boxes are literally made to go together.

Great thanks.

I have an NC 250 that rarely gets more than mildly warm even with heavy usage. My Naim dealer said it would be fine in a cupboard (even though I don’t have it in a cupboard). More importantly, the 222/250 combo is absolutely brilliant

Thats what I was hoping to hear.

My NC250 runs very cool - had it for six months with no issues at all.

Brilliant…Demo unit arriving today…so will see how it performs.

Utter tosh! If it were true, NC 250 owners on this forum would have been jumping up and down vociferously! Not a murmur, fantastic amp.

I can only speak from my experience and NC NAP250 gets mildly warm at worst in my set up - fan has never come on.
Perhaps if you use unsuitable speaker cable or bi-wire (against Naim advice) the amp may get hot but I’ve not tried it.
IMO it’s a great match with the NSC222.
