Very sad to hear news that he has just passed, at the age of 98. What a life and career and a very nice guy too by all accounts.
I saw him once about 20 years ago with Dr Lonnie Smith - ‘fusion not con-fusion’ was his motto. RIP, will be missed.

For me Ballads always show what a Jazz musician is really capable of and Lou Donaldson could play a beautiful ballad.
