Definitely thinking Rega. I’m definitely thinking of chucking the digital towel in. Too much aggro.
Or a Technics SL1200.
Riding the wheels of steel over the event horizon of History…
No. 100% Rega. It just works. A bit like a Marshall Town trowel.
And there was me thinking my 272 is designed to play back files at up to 24-bit/196kHz!
Do you have a lot of hires files?
Ah so it’s about SQ, not catalogue after all. I can’t complain
It’s over priced garbage. A bit like Papa Johns Pizzas.
Oh OK then
But try this DJ program and tell me you wouldn’t have more fun with 2 Technics decks and a mixer:
Bring back Olive!
Enough to know I’m perfectly happy with CD quality. If others are content to pay 2-3 times as much for hi-res, and believe it sounds ‘better’, that’s their prerogative. Choice is a great thing.
Yes, you could swop it all for a really swanky Rega/Olive system.
To be fair, Tidal CD quality and Qobuz with the hi-res mixed in costs the same
I was talking about ownership rather than rental.
That costs 3 times as much? Oh OK, the few hi-res files I downloaded came with vinyl purchases, never bought one. Seems excessive
I already have a olive active system and from memory my new obscenely priced modern system is not as good.
In the loft?
Yup.
Well, get it down and plug that beauty in!
And if your theory holds up you can flog the other stuff.
New Rory Gallagher album. £12.99 for CD on Amazon, £31.99 to download hi-res version from Highresaudio (still £27.20 even with a temporary 15% discount).
