I didn’t doubt you. It is expensive
It’s what the people are asking for. Read the thread - SQ, native Qobuz, full use of PS, newer tech to match the ND5XS2 and NDX2.
Completely wrong. Streaming delivers a huge range of choice, and isn’t for collecting. The benefits of having the world at your fingertips is so well known here there’s no need to go through it again.
It’s not about you, even though you did bother to buy an NDX2 and then a separate PS to go with it.
There was a Brothers In Arms Listen-along last week on Twitter with bass player John Illsley. It was very good and well received, a lot like John Finnemore Tweeting along to Cabin Pressure on Sunday evenings when it was recently repeated. Dire Straits are like a lot of other bands, they have their well-earnt place in the pantheon, and are going through a period of reevaluation as more people come to realise what a quality band they were. Same for Phil Collins last year. BIA is a very very good album btw, musically and SQ.
What? Makes no sense, other than sounding like a discarded advertising tag line.
A few weeks you were raving about your NDX2, the best thing ever. Then you added a PS and were doing cartwheels about its brilliance. There was even a thread from you on how brilliant Naim are for making this stuff and allowing you to spend your thousands of GBP on it. And now you find it not very good?
From ‘Please Naim let me bow at your feet’ to ‘nah I’m giving it up’ in a few weeks. I’m not dredging through the threads to find it and quote it here, but I posted in your NDX2 thread at the time predicting exactly this.
£14.99 a month for as much as you can eat sounds like a bargain to me.
The moral of this story might be to not post when you are tired and emotional?
We should perhaps be a little charitable, not being privy to what happened there.
Oh dear, thread’s gorn orf sideways again.
Time for some fun, rather than personal attack?
I’m just flagging up the ridiculous statements and the continuous u-turns from this particular poster. If he wants to make statements like the ones he has he’s welcome, but the idea that they should all be allowed to pass unchallenged seems a bit weird tbh. It’s an open forum, his views are open to challenge.
It’s not a personal attack, it’s highlighting hypocrisy and baseless opinions.
We are of course allowed to challenge but not make ad hominem criticism.
Yes and their could be some underlying health issues such as stress, so perhaps some slack would not go amiss.
I’ve made some edits here. Challenge posts by all means but please do not make personal comment or ad hominem attacks on other members. Thanks.
I love Stephen’s enthusiasm and also his ability to change his mind and reassess and see the other side of a story.
He breathes fun and life into the threads he is in.
We all experience conflicting feelings about our hifi and changes we make, but most of us don’t admit it.
Many just keep adding more and more stuff and don’t even bother taking it out again to test whether it really did make the difference we originally noticed.
You’re more than welcome to that opinion Jim. Mine is the exact opposite, but clearly if I state my opposite view in plain English Mr Dane will have me out before I can say Jack Robinson, and ST apart I find this an enjoyable site to waste time on. There’s a disparity though, that anyone is welcome to state an opinion as long as it’s supportive whereas pointing out the u-turns or the extremes and the downright whatever is not allowed.
Well I kinda sympathise… I had a case my self recently…my system sounded incredible one day and then not as good another. I though it must be me… being contrary or something. I then finally realised I had sometimes been leaving my laptop psu plugged into mains near my Roon NUC… aghh … so there was a reason…
There is a function on Preferences where you can automatically not see the posts of named members.
I have used it to avoid raised blood pressure from reading posts of a few bods who always bring my mood down.
I assume that if someone from Naim replies with a firm ‘YES’ or ‘NO’, we can close this thread, isn’t it?
The answer is YES, we just don’t know it yet. I spoke to someone from Latham Audio (distributor for Benelux) last weekend and he said that a 272 replacement is in the pipeline, but also that he could not say anything about it. He said to be patient until next year…
Even if we get a firm YES, we still need to debate/speculate about the exact design features of the 272-2, where it fits in the Naim product hierarchy, whether it is a wise decision, how it fits with Naim’s future vision. etc, etc,
Oh the fun still left to be had in this thread…….
Sevenoaks Sound And Vision have 272’s at £1999 on their website…perhaps a clue…but perhaps not as NDX2 is also heavily discounted?
272 is discontinued and prices are reduced in most places, though usually not that much
I see the problem…
Yes that’s why I posted.
