Quite; horrid things that look like they are thrown together from spare parts. The Atom is fine but the Star and Nova are a design disaster. Functional materiality my eye.
Instead of changing the design to uniti style, I dream about a retrofittable board for my Nac 72.
Absolutely - I wouldn’t have the cash to throw at a replacement in any event. The point I’m making is that, even if I had, no one seems able to come up with a convincing argument for doing so! All this talk of ‘noise reduction’ is really not something I understand. I have heard, admittedly quite a while ago, so called superior Naim systems at my dealers (252/SC/300 and an older 500 system). They sounded very pleasant, but definitely not £’000s better than mine (the speakers, Ovator 600s, weren’t a patch on my ProAcs!).
I’m obviously not a hifi fanatic, just someone who enjoys good music. I’ll stick with what I’ve got.
I still prefer the look of the Unitiqute to the Atom, albeit I love the performance. The new range has obviously been designed for a new, younger generation HH!
Stays a great topic
This is exactly how I use my Atom: as a preamp, and it works great.
Isn’t that ND5 XS 2.
Anyone had exact listening experience with 272, 272 + 555 PS, vs Nova / Uniti Line, vs, 282 or 552 in higher system? I have had opp todo all of these and the Nova out performed 272 + PS into my Kudo Titans in terms of resolution, detail, airiness, sparkle…but 272 PS combo had more drive and lower frequency control. I would vote to get a streamer/Pre combination that fully maximized the Burndy lines of controlled DC power to fall in line with streamer technology that has advanced since 272 introduction.
100% agree. The current Uniti designs just aren’t Naim. I hate the white logo. I hate the heatsink. I really hate the volume control. Largely because I never use the top shelf of a rack.
I think an Atom is as far as I’d go.
It’s a funny one isn’t it, it’s more inline with the statement.
Thankfully as the new streamers have kept with the standard look and the green logo I think it’s safe for a while.
The product I find odd is the uniti core. It’s a product that is really only going to be used by classic users yet has the uniti looks. If this is the only reason they kept uniti in the name then I think they should of ditched it and just called it the core and gone green.
Just shows my aesthetic taste is rubbish. I really like the appearance of the new Uniti series; the Nova reminds me a bit appearance-wise of my cherished Meridian CD player, still doing stirling duty in my son’s house. Indeed, for a stand-alone box, I prefer the look of the Unitis to pretty much everything since the days of CB Naits.
Oops! I think I better hide abroad for a few months. In the mean time, I hope you all have a peaceful and musical Christmas.

Well on the contrary, the fact Naim chse the design for the Uniti, the fact it sells well says that those like me that dislike the aesthetic are the ones in the minority.
Funny that Meridian was mentioned. Another company that made stuff I thought was designed by someone wearing opaque goggles. But again, the history of the market proves me wrong and others right.
The style of the Unitis is the same as that used on the Statement and Musos, and the website and forum. I don’t hear people complaining about those either.
The only thing that looks wrong to me is the line down the middle of the Star and Nova. It looks like they have made two slightly mismatched boxes and stuck them together.
Your second para describes my take on them perfectly. I’ve got two Qbs and think they look great. The Atom is nice but the Star and Nova much less so. There is something of Frankenstein’s monster about them.
Maybe the line is there to give a separates feel ? Streamer and Amp joined together ? I quite like the Uniti range, especially the Atom .
It’s the only reason I don’t own statement Chris, if the logo was green, I’d be all over it!
Yes and only comes in black. Shame otherwise I would got at least one.
I like the looks of the unity series, mini me version of statement series. And I also really like the looks of the classic series. I think anyone should be proud to display either!

Hi all I was really hoping for more likes!!! … this was my first bit of Naim kit … and it proved to be so flexible and capable - come on I would love to see Naim update the 272 instead of letting it fade away…Anyway, I hope you all have a great Christmas and stay well and enjoy your music… cheers
