Love the 272 please update - 1 click like post

I may have understood, but what is it a clue for if it’s well known?

Edit: Oh I get it now, sorry for being slow

No apologies necessary …my post was a bit ambiguous…
Sevenoaks have these “sales” quite regularly, usually display or demo stock…I guess it’s a way to turn over stock quickly.

Oooh…Scary… :slightly_smiling_face:

Chill its a hobby…be like the my avatar the chilling Russel…

If Naim do introduce a new 272.5 i shall be ditching my NDX2/XPS DR in an instant. :slightly_smiling_face:

Very sensible.

Don’t you love the sound of that first beer cracking open on a Friday night?

The crunch of cashew nuts…the crackle of chilli crisps…

It was a one off - a bit like the IXO. 2?

A new 272 woul be the pefect product for Naim to introduce selectable filter algorithms/mplemetations as heard on some separate DAC:s recently. Add one setting for letting more musical information through.

272 fellow users, i have since a few days that tidal stops playing for a few seconds and then continue. Never have this before, some albums goes well. Other albums after a few numbers it stops. Everything is wired, i also powered the 272 down for a reboot. No help.
Tested my internet on a computer of mine, no problems.
I get my maximum speed.
Anybody have a solution?

My goodness man, there are a lot of us that would be happy with that speed… can you press button 5 please

I know, the speed is not the problem.
Something between Tidal and The 272 goes wrong. I don’t understand why and what tot do about it.

The problem many have found with Tidal is due to latency rather than speed/bandwidth, so a fast service won’t help. The small buffer on the 272 (and all 1st generation Naim streamers) can empty too quickly while waiting for the next packet of data from the Tidal server, which may be located pretty much anywhere in the world with multiple hops around the globe before they reach your home network.
This issue seems to be less common now than it used to be, as the forum used to see many posts complaining about it. Naim have optimised the streamer firmware to help as far as possible, and I believe they have been in contact with Tidal too. Most of this is outside of your control, but what might help is:
Make sure your streamer firmware is up to date. Version 4.7 is the latest.
Keep your home network as simple as possible, preferably using wired Ethernet rather than WiFi.
Talk to your ISP. If they are any good, they may be able to tweak some settings under the hood.

Good luck!

Oké,
4.7 check
Wired connection Check
Route is modem-Cisco-272 so check
Maybe i have to contact t-mobile.
I have no idea how the route all the network traffic.

There is nothing that you can do about how the traffic is routed across your National and international network. But if enough Tidal users in your country complained to Tidal, then they could set up a server that looks after your area properly.

I think that I have solved the problem.
I take the cisco 2960 switch out of the system.
The 272 is now connected directly in 1 of the 4 connectors on my modem.
For now it is working without any trouble.
I did a ping test from my workstation.
Between the workstation stands modem-apple extreme - workstation
The above speeds are in this configuration.

Down here you can see the ping test.

The Cisco switch shouldn’t cause this issue unless it’s not been set up properly. If it’s pre-used then it probably needs a factory reset, which may not have been done before and it may still have rules set up that aren’t helping you. New from the box, it should just work as a switch in unmanaged mode.

It worked for months oke.
When I bought the Cisco there was a rapport with it where stands it was error free and reset.

At moment i test it for a few days to see what happens. Then i check the Cisco in the menu. It came with a blue cable.

I can’t pretend to be a network expert, but I believe Tidal use multiple servers all over the world. Looking at your ping test, I imagine that if the stream came from a server in Hong Kong that might be slow enough to allow the 272 buffer to empty. @Stevesky might be able to tell us whether this might actually be slow enough to cause dropouts?

Regarding your Cisco switch, I have two of these between my router and streamer with no issues. When I ran a 1st gen. streamer with Tidal it was reliable and I very rarely had any dropouts.

I read somewhere that tidal runs on Google cloud servers.
Those are in Frankfurt and the Netherlands. I don’t know how Tidal transfer connections, does it read a ip and then connect it to the closest server?

I experience 2 dropouts this evening. So the Cisco is not the problem.
Also with streaming F1TV I have multiple times that the stream went down in quality today.

I’am gonna install an ping tester tomorrow to let this run for a day or two.
Maybe I can find something. I already read on some forum that the fiber internet I have is fast but not everywhere stable. But I have this internet now for 3 months, never had this experience. I will also check by the provider if they change stuf in the modem.

True I understand
