Hi all. Been reading the Naim Nait 50 thread from the beginning as the Nait was my start into Naim back in 1987. I bought my girlfriend the latest Beyonce in vinyl as Beyonce is her favourite artist and she went with me to Record Store Day last week.
This sounds fantastic through the Atom which has me thinking. How much do you think I’m missing using the LP12 Majik through the Atom? I’ve connected it through a Stageline.
I haven’t heard the Atom but have the Atom HE and the line in is the weakest point in my view, closed in especially compared with a 222 or 282/stageline which I’ve heard. I’d expect the Nait 50 to also be a significant step up.
crazy. Been a member for 20 plus years yet I am not allowed to reply to my own thread. Edit, well, this is a weird way to get my posts through. Anyone think it’s dumb if I buy the Nait 50 and sell my stageline/pardo power supply. I’ll plug the LP 12 into the Nait and just switch the NAC 5 speaker cables from the Atom to the 50 when I want to listen to vinyl. Not convenient but I stream 95% of the time anyways.
I’d stick with what you have given the Beyoncé record sounded fine and you stream 95 percent of the time. If I had to switch speaker wires every time I wanted to listen to a record, I’d not bother.
you know what I might do? Buy the Nait 50 and trade my stageline/ power supply. I’ll plug the LP 12 into the Nait and just switch the NAC 5 speaker cables from the Atom to the 50 when I want to listen to vinyl. Not convenient but I stream 95% of the time anyways.
No disrespect intended, but I see from your other posts that you have been considering buying a Nait 50 for about 2 years now.
With the amazing discount these can be had for (hopefully in Canada too) and the amount of high praise received, it appears to be the bargain of the half century - so no better time to purchase than now.
You may find that your LP12 usage increases with the Nait 50 in place. Then you could consider replacing the Atom for a new streamer source, if it proves inconvenient.
I think this is very sensible (assuming sense has anything to do with buying hifi!? )
If the OP can buy the 50 without selling other kit, sometimes that can help make decisions for you.
I bought a CB setup whilst still owning my NAIT XS3, happy to decide which to keep after the purchase. It was a very clear decision for me once the new-to-me kit was in my own home and plugged in.
Hope the OP makes the right decision for them, and any issues posting haven’t put them off the NAIT 50.
